they started back with some bullshit nonsense and its gross. I was hoping to nostalgia over Momma Freak getting me to go to sleep and feeding it to me while I stayed up past midnight watching women's beach volleyball on ESPN
I went out with 7 as my goal but stopped at 6 and walked the last mile. I was really disappointed in myself. That said, when i looked back at my week, it was my first 20+ mile week, so I felt somewhat better.
Also, on a friend’s recommendation, i tried a pair of Brooks Adrenaline 19s on my last two runs. I’ve only worn Ultraboosts until now, so some noticeable differences. Overall, i think I’d like a hybrid of the two. I like the energy return of the Ultraboosts, but they are lacking in terms of support. I feel like the Brooks offer the support, but don’t have the bounce the Adidas have.
Was hot af for my eight miles this morning. Back to my normal trail tomorrow (been house sitting) and I’m pretty excited. Not to mention only three tomorrow.
You guys have shamed me. Going to try and get in between 3-6. It’s 3 pm and it’s 69. Perfect running weather. Took Groot for a 1.5 mile power walk so a nice quick jog will be a good compliment.
Do we have a cycling thread? I have a road bike that timo sold me a few years ago but am wanting to get something newer and lighter to get out and do longer rides. budget of about $1500 if anyone has any recommendations.
there are cycling, peloton and a bicycle threads. A lot of the outdoor cycling guys migrated to the peloton thread. Before I got my peloton I was an outdoor guy. Got 6 in but I forget how much the wind sucks. Running against 16-20 mph wind sucks ass especially when you checked the app and thought you’d be running with the wind not against it on the way back.
Drove down to Indiana for the week and my GOD is it brutal here. Went for an afternoon run and made it about 2.5 miles before I had to take a walk. First time I've walked on a run in a long time.
thanks! I was going to get a peloton but my new apartment complex has 4 in the gym...whenever that opens up again
Knocked out 10 miles on the trails this morning. 702 max elevation. 1:37. always hated running growing up but I’ve become addicted during the quarantine. Nice to just blast music and not have to worry about anything
Found a new life hack as I turn the sprinkler on before I run. Feels great arriving home and doing my cooldown walk in it. Complete catharsis
I was running 5 miles about 2-3 times a week since quarantine started but then didn’t run at all for the last month and a half. Got back out there last week though. Big time reality check with how hot it is now. Barely got in 3. Ran 4 today and going to try to push it to 5 on Wednesday.
Running in this heat is a bitch so I try to hydrate before my run as best I can because I fucking hate running with any sort of water. I’ve been drinking liquid IV prior to most my long runs, anything over 5, in this heat. I’ve felt remarkably better since drinking one 30mins prior to my longer runs. Might be placebo effect but either way in this heat I’ve felt much better with them then without just add a packet to 16 ounces of water and stir - oh and only buy lemon lime the other flavors are tough on the taste buds
Having hopped back into running suddenly during the summer, I do not envy you. Keep kicking ass, that shit is tough.
Reporting in, Arizona continues to be hotter than fuck around the clock. I'm not doing anything more than a maintenance schedule of ~19 miles a week until I see that overnight temp drop into the high 70s on a consistent basis.
I used to hate taking water too, but I finally realized I was being stupid. I got used to it after a while.
In this summer heat I carry an 10oz bottle on 5-7 mile runs. 18oz bottle on 8+ mile runs. These are the Nathan handhelds which I like. Usually just put a mix of gatorade, ice, and water. 10 mile morning run on Sunday I drank the whole 18oz and stopped at the 7 mile mark to stick my head under a shower at the beach which feels great, feels like it reduces temp a little.
I got this belt a couple months ago and am a huge fan. The thing I worried about the most was it moving around a ton and it doesn't at all. I throw a couple waters into the freezer every night before a long run and they slowly thaw throughout. Definitely recommend.
Hoping to get in a run before it starts raining today. Think I have a 90-min window, so 4 miles should be no issue. Which means it will pour around 25 min into the run. Around 80 now, so hoping it will be bearable.
I ran with my Balegas Sunday and they were completely soaked through with sweat by the end. Got a couple little blisters. Any other sock recommendations?
started at like 88 last night and finished at 74 or some such. I'm a total bitch and did a sluggish 5.6 hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it

8 wasn't too bad, but with a couple left, the sun was fully up and it was very, very warm. Goal is to get out by 5:00 am tomorrow and avoid the sun for at least an hour.
