I have only graded one card in my life, but good. People need to stop sending in <$10 cards to turn them into $30 dollar cards. That's not the point of grading.
Damn, sent 30 cards in before but have about 50 more I want to send, will have to reevaluate some of them with new pricing. But I also can now submit some I didn't expect I could because minimum value limit has gone from $200 to $500 on those. So some I thought I'd have to pay $50 if I wanted to send I can send in at $20 or 25 now depending on age of card. Also went from 20 to 10 limit so I can send in some modern too because I didn't think I had 20 before
Counter argument: 45 day subs are taking 8 months because so many people are submitting cards that shouldn't be graded, and raising the price may cut those out.
This is what I’m hoping happens, I’m seeing guys trying to unload graded cards right around that $15-30 range right now and all I can think of is why the duck would you grade that shit. I understand rookies cause if they blow up you’ve made 10x the money but a insert card for a 5 year vet???? Come on.
Also I see more and more guys are starting to send in packs to get graded. To me that’s stupid, yes the pack is a grade 10 but how sure are you the cards inside are gonna be a 10. It there are dumbasses buying graded packs, and I’m not talking old packs.
I bought a sekou psa 9 card for $9. I dont get why people send stuff in for grading when a 9 is worth less than cost of grading. Guys just sending 100s of cards to get some 10s instead of just picking their best ones
I don't understand sending in all rookies, though. If they blow up you'll still be able to grade it once they do..
I should restate, Skill guys are the ones people predict to be good. Yeah I’m not sending in a 4th round TE.
I can only speak of basketball because I haven't submitted a ton of baseball/football but the price difference between raw and a PSA 9 was worth it to take a shot at getting a 10. For example, Zion Prizm base was in the $175-190 range for a while and PSA 9 were selling for $200-220. At $20 cost to grade (at the time), it was worth the gamble to submit and hope that it turned into a $650 card. If not, oh well, breakeven. People paying more than raw for a PSA 9 on an Ultra Modern card is really dumb but nobody ever said people were smart lol
20 day is what, express? That sounds like something is wrong. Psa is no longer estimating turnaround times instead posting this, they say they are done with everything they got up to the date listed
There are groups sending in thousands to get graded and slabbed. To say the least they're ridiculously backed up on turnaround times. Also recommend the sports cards nonsense podcast. It's interesting to hear people talk about the cards as more of a short term investment...
I think it’s actually economy. It’s a step above having to be sorted by year which appears to be value.
So a non psa member can't submit anything for $100 right now. Cards I sent express 2 week ago would be 150 now instead of 75. Just wish I got my 2nd order out. Especially did well with those vouchers too. Buying the membership with the 15 vouchers I think was $250. Would be $750 to send same 15 cards now and that's not even a possibility because that level is suspended at the moment
You mean like another company that grades cards? HGA is a newer company grading cards and they are only excepting so many cards on a week to week basis so if you chose 10’days it’s done in 10’days. So far I like the look of their slabs but they have had a few ooops so far, but they are pretty new. I’m just hoping the whole grading thing settles down cause pretty soon the value of having a card graded will diminish if there are 10,000 Zion rookies for sale.
So I overpaid for some Optic last week and it arrived yesterday. Most of it was meh, but the blaster saved it all. Got a base Herbert and a Jordan Love silver. Now I want to open more Optic because it's a great looking product, and I want a Burrow
So I purchased 2 blasters and a cello from a guy on Facebook and I did some terrible math in my head and ended up paying about $10 more than I should have but yesterday they showed up and I ended up getting a Pink Herbert and Burrow in those two blasters plus a pink chase young and some other good rookies. I also bought 2 more blasters and pulled some Tuas and a /50 Herbert patch. I have 6 more blasters on the way and I’m looking to buy more. I’ve ended up stashing some Prizm and mosaic sealed product away and I’m going to do the same with optic and hopefully Herbert and burrow pan out and they are worth triple in a few years
In the little I’ve seen out of optic it’s a much better value than Prizm and much better chance to hit some of the big names. I need to practice some self discipline and just stick to a few products each year but I end up getting jealous watching guys rip cards.
I agree, I'm just not going to rip it anymore cause the cost/risk factor s really bad. I have 6 blasters I'm sitting on so I hope it grows.
Got a Series 1 hobby box in a break for $30. Was hoping for an auto, but the mem was a pretty good one
Picked up this 1999 Cleveland Indians Turn Ahead the Clock jersey for about $35. Hoping to get it customized with Thome or Colon someday!
Does anyone know if you can find print runs of base cards. I'm so confused by the Spencer Torkelson Bowman base auto Since Feb 8 so almost a month 8 gold, 3 gold wave, 6 black, 7 blue, 6 blue wave, 2 orange, at least 25 refractors of Torkelson have sold on ebay.....only 2 base autos have sold. I really wonder the print number of his base auto is because they are never on ebay. They seem more rare than most the SP
Only thing I can potentially think of is a bunch sent them in to get graded and were hoping to sneak them in a cheaper tier? But you'd still think more than 2 base would hit eBay in a month, when the same amount of orange (/25) have been sold and well over 20 of the /499 have sold
My meijer has now put all "valuable" cards behind their electronic desk and will only sell them once a week. I kind of like the idea, the problem is they are doing it Fridays at 3. So everyone with a job or any kid is going to be in work or school. So it will still just be mostly the guys buying to resell who get everything
Target has started doing it at some locations and there’s been folks camping out the night before like it’s Black Friday(according to the Twitter)
what do they do with the leftovers? my meijer is doing the same, but they're limiting how many you can purchase. target has also started to do the same.
Not sure there are leftovers. I didn't bother today because of work and had a friend go to one in metro Detroit. He got there 20 minutes early and was 20th in line. Said at least 15 more showed up after him
I’ve ripped a bunch of optic, is there any players you guys are interested in. I’ve pulled some pretty good stuff and have more blasters and megas on the way. This waiting in line is crazy, if you get 2 blasters your gonna make what $80 profit, I can see if if you get two megas then you can make upwards of $200 but like if your 20th and you get 2 blasters or cells of Topps series 1 that’s a complete waste.
