If it doesn’t use the completely unaltered original soundtrack then I’m not going to like it no matter how good the movie is.
Spent a large amount of my childhood attempting to either "Get over here" or Kamehameha in my bedroom.
First movie was incredible and still holds up. Change my mind. Tagawa’s Tsung is perfect (Oscar snub iyam) and I was so happy they brought him back for the latest MK game. the first movie in general has an excellent cast. also post itt if you grew up dressing as MK characters for Halloween and want to do it again while seeing this new movie.
Have this on vinyl. It’s actually great background music. These are video game soundtracks, not the movie although I have the cds for those too somewhere
Ok. It’s bad-great. In the same vein as something like Commando. It’s entertaining because it’s bad but they’re all going for it.
That's fine. The actual story is so out there so it can only be bad-great unless they went with the "earth based reboot idea" where Baraka was a doctor. That said, the people who grew up playing the game are now old enough to be making these movies. So this new one should be really good because you have more passionate fans behind it. Annihilation is the perfect example of something made by people in a boardroom who have no idea what's going on but just know there's a ton of characters to exploit.
https://screenrant.com/mortal-kombat-movie-prologue-first-13-minutes/ We Watched The First 13 Minutes of Mortal Kombat A spoiler-free description of the Mortal Kombat movie's prologue and interview with director Simon McQuoid and producer Todd Garner. Spoiler Mortal Kombat's introduction is shot in the style of a Akira Kurosawa classic and sets the stage for the core feud between Hanzo Hasashi (Hiroyuki Sanada), who becomes Scorpion, and Bi-Han (Joe Taslim) who becomes the villainous Sub-Zero. For fans of the Mortal Kombat video game lore, the storyline behind the former's clan and family is spot on, whereas Sub-Zero seems to be filling the role of Quan Chi from the games. We have a theory on that though worth reading.
Said it before but a big part is people who grew up on the source material are now old enough to be the ones filming it
Does anyone know if the original theme makes an appearance because I’m going to be very disappointed if it doesn’t...
was pushed back a week because Kong Godzilla did so well they didn't want to cannibalize on the ticket sales.
makes sense. I’m so ready to get hella baked and watch this shit. Those finishers look brutal as fuck.
What time is Mortal Kombat available? HBO Max confirmed Mortal Kombat will be available to start streaming at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET Friday. Generally, most of the new Warner Bros. movies become available to stream on Max at that time on the day of their releases. But the timing for other movies may vary, depending on when the first cinematic screenings take place at brick-and-mortar theaters. Wonder Woman 1984, for example, became available at 9 a.m. PT/noon ET on Dec. 25 because that was the earliest theaters were open that day. The movies will be available to stream on HBO Max for 31 days. They're generally expected to be removed from the service at 11:59 p.m. PT on that 31st day.
Cary Tagawa is Shang Tsung, period, the developers practically rewrote his character after the movie to fall more in line with Tagawa's mannerisms as Shang Tsung. anyone else will just seem like a cheap imitation, which it mostly did here. other than that, fucking terrific reboot and a great videogame movie. in total fairness, Hiroyuki Sanada was fantastic casting for Hanzo Hasashi so it kind of makes up for it. the people who wrote and made this clearly grew up playing the games so practically everything was done right. cliche lines from the series (which honestly I did cringe over a little because they're all so out of place but minor complaint), good amount of gore, series lore almost entirely intact, and a good assortment of characters, even a few nobody saw coming. I guess my only real complaint is it felt rushed, they introduced so many characters in two hours and really this movie probably should have been split into two but I'm guessing given how shaky videogame movies are at the box office no studio wanted to risk budgeting for two films initially. still, I think this will do well enough to get us a sequel or two and they can play around with the bigger universe in those.
I have watched the works of ingmar bergman, akrika kurosawa, and federico fellini and i would say this does not measure up to their work tbf but it was relatively entertaining,
