I've got two friends that recently started working for Barstool, and I struggle to want to support their career growth while also hating a number of the people at that company (Mainly Portnoy). Brother Brandon has two good podcast episodes on the problems with Barstool's culture from the inside (I believe he quit at the beginning of COVID/Portnoy's N word videos resurfacing). Highly recommend listening to it.
They've moved away from the "it's satire" argument to "Well Portnoy helped like 100 small businesses during fake covid. So he should be allowed to say what he wants".
Yep. They are good dudes (Especially Martin). But the Barstool branding is just something that I've never been THAT attracted to. I've just gotten the vibe that Barstool is all about keeping with the status quo
If your defense of a lot of these clowns is ‘they aren’t actually like that they are just taking advantage of the situation’ you are wrong because them doing that actually makes them exactly like those people. It doesn’t make you smart to take advantage of assholes, it just makes you also an asshole.
“Athletes like Lebron should keep their politics out of sports.” -Clay Travis also Clay Travis “I’m taking over for Rush Limbaugh”
didn't Clay's fox show get some of the worst ratings in that timeslot? how does he continue to fail upwards?
Like Trump and most of the leaders of the conservative movement he is an elite grifter that knows their audience are fools.
but he didn't even have an audience for his show. maybe his radio ratings are much different, I'm not familiar.
His show comes (came?) on at 5 am in the Dallas market. It was the show before the morning show. Once 5:30 hit, I assume he wasn't on the air at all in Dallas.
Cant wait for the inevitable, “I was trying to stick to sports and stay out of politics, but the liberal elite fake media and the woke athletes pushing their crazy ideas like not killing black peoples or treating poor people like humans made me realize I needed to join the fight against their communism!”
“As I looked at the data during 2020, the story it told me was clear. As much as people might enjoy my sports opinions, they loved even more when I talked about issues that were, frankly, far more important than sports: my belief in American exceptionalism and the meritocracy, my rejection of cancel culture and identity politics, my repudiation of everything woke in our culture.” “Unfortunately in our modern woke culture, most people don’t make their own bold choices. They think about what they’re supposed to say or what they’re supposed to believe, and then they seek, like sheep, to follow the lead of the woke masses. I’ve never done that, and I never will.”
He's going to end up being the president, and we could've stopped him if y'all reported him for plagiarism like I asked you to do eleven years ago.
“They avoid saying the name that made John Brown and Frederick Douglass abolitionists, compelled Thomas Jefferson to write that "all men are created equal," comforted Union soldiers during the Civil War, and inspired Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream. They avoid directly referring to the name that made America great in the first place, the name that forced us to overcome our superficial differences and transform those differences into our greatest strength. Jesus. He's been canceled, crucified by a toxic secular culture that bullies His believers with threats to expose their sins on the Satan-con Valley social media platforms and/or the Satan-con Valley-catering corporate media outlets.” ... “"Black Twitter" is not an organic construct. It's a social media algorithm designed to paint any truth-speaking public figure as a racist or a race traitor. The New York Times' 1619 Project isn't journalism. It's the companion of academia's virus, critical race theory, propaganda designed to foster racial animus and erode black patriotism. Black Lives Matter isn't concerned with the welfare of black men. It's a fundraising arm of the Democratic Party and a lobbyist for the LGBTQ agenda.”
That's the case for all of them. Ben Shapiro wanted to write TV. Dave Rubin wanted to be a stand-up. I guarantee they've all said something to the effect of "It's your fault if you're not successful" at some point, but that doesn't apply to them because the illiberal left conspired against them, and that's why they weren't successful.
