i don’t give a fuck he’ll get fired next year if he sucks anyways better than paying brian kelly 15 mil
Why are people running with this $15m figure that Dennis fucking Dodd threw out when The Athletic has people saying $10m?
Yeah but the hunchback also surrounded himself with drinking buddies that were just as lazy, at least Kelly is smart enough to hire recruiting assistants
Why does the money matter? Coaches aren’t paid by the universities, they’re paid by rich douchebags who write checks in exchange for the ego stroke of feeling influential and rubbing elbows in luxury suites.
The perception at ND was that he personally wasn’t active enough in recruiting versus the young and hungry HCs. I’m sure that was overblown, but there are plenty of tangible examples where local media illuminated that issue when talking with recruits, current players, etc. BK improved in this area over the past several years, but take the ND fanbase’s word for it that hands on recruiting won’t be BK’s core competency. It’s probably fair to say that LSU will do a better job recruiting itself and that a more regional recruiting base will mitigate the perceived weakness. People trying to look at ND’s recent recruiting classes and using that as proof to say that it won’t be a problem for BK - Marcus Freeman is the single person most responsible for the gains versus recent norms. Defensive recruiting is at the highest level since Holtz ever since Freeman came in.
The rumor is Raymond and Faulk are staying, if he adds a couple more recruiters to the staff lsu will be fine. They'll keep landing top ten classes.
This. Instead of grinding they just flashed the rings and still tried to live off the Urban days. Mullen couldn’t build one-on-one relationships which are must. So just told them how smart he was. Reminiscent of Charlie Weis’ “decided schematic advantage” bullshit. Saw how that worked out. But yeah when UF is 11th in the SEC in recruiting it’s time to get everyone out the fucking door.
This tends to be my take as well but college is weird and I really have no idea how anything will play out
It’s adorable how one fan of a school who overpays a coach that doesn’t win anything is supporting a fan of a school who is about to do the same.
Considering how many non-winning coaches UF has had in the past decade maybe you should scare up a few boosters to open their checkbooks
Doesnt really matter in the sense youre talking about. But hard not to cringe with the backdrop being a State that Bobby Jindal pillaged and left for broke, just so those very assholes could have a little extra coin.
There are stories out there about Marcus Freeman coming in and asking why they hadn't been offering elite defenders that previous coaches had basically written off as possibilities. He started recruiting those kids and as they stand the 22 and 23 classes reflect that. We haven't seen that effort in offense, though. BK was allowed to recruit more talent than he did at ND. I think he'll do fine at LSU in that regard with a strong staff, but his hands weren't tied as much as people like to make out.
I think it's a great hire for lsu. I am interested in seeing how the current roster reacts to his coaching style. He always struck me as a hardass, which is probably gonna be a shock after orgeron
He’s completely flipped on this over the past few years. Since 2016 when he was almost fired, he’s become way more of a “players coach”. Those purple face screaming sessions on the sideline don’t happen anymore.
During games he can be. That's not the case off field or in the locker room. The players at ND love him.
https://eu.usatoday.com/story/sport...dame-lsu-college-football-stunner/8803498002/ Dan is extremely mad online this morning. he has a point, generally, but lol
Well that's good to hear. Looking forward to the stories about his tinder flings doing the Oklahoma drill in practice
Southern Cal -- homerun straight out LSU -- power move, I think it will work out well Florida -- solid
All 3 schools can get elite talent. Really going to come down who is the best game planner and staff they build.
Agree. He and his staff can build elite roster just recruiting LA, MS and TX. LSU and Bama or more popular in MS then any in state school. All are rich with talent
Yep. It’s been years since it happened, but close friend’s cousin played at LSU. When he was heading to Bama for a visit before being committed he was pulled over at the LA state line by troopers and basically forced to turn around. Shit can be wild
The rumor is John Emery's dad got a dui in New Orleans and flipping from Georgia to LSU made it go away.
