Rodney Scotts is dope but I’d like to try the original. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Hancock’s in my hometown (Selma). Still the best BBQ sauce I’ve ever had.
it helps for those of us who “grew up” going to Bottletree for shows that’s there’s a hint of nostalgia just walking into the Bham location
Pulled pork or smoked chicken or any sort of sandwich from a “Dreamland” isn’t what we are talking about. The original shack that serves ribs and white bread only is Dreamland.
This is disrespectful as fuck. I'm not walking into a bbq place famous for ribs and ordering pulled pork.
Yea. He has a massive location in Atlanta..really cool spot. Tough market for bbq though. We have some heavy hitters.
The original Scott's BBQ in Hemingway is quite the experience. Middle of nowhere, old ramshackle building, kind of sketchy surroundings, and superb whole hog cue.
That’s fine but can’t walk to a restaurant with Central Air and say you’ve been Dreamland either. Most franchise BBQ loses a lot when you get away from the original.
yeah between heirloom and fox bros it's gotta be tough. though, he absolutely kills it in charleston and he's got lewis and home team right down the street, so i'm sure he'll be fine. scott's has the best pulled pork i've ever had (especially the hemingway location), and the sauce they make is fucking phenomenal so i'm sure they'll do well in atlanta
Not Bama or Georgia, but I think the Shed near Biloxi is some of the best bbq I’ve had. It’s been a while though so not sure if it’s gone downhill.
was gonna do my usual friday lunch of beer and tacos from Revelry but all this talk has me hankering for some bbq
I don't generally eat pulled pork at restaurants because it's so easy to smoke at home. But I made a point to try his whole hog and it was really good. He's got a restaurant group with deep pockets backing him in Atlanta and his own people running the place. I think he'll make it. I went the first Saturday he was open and got to meet him and hang out for a bit. Nicest guy ever.
It always blows my mind that for as awesome of a food city Athens is there’s really no distinguishable bbq. It’s all just ok. Pulaski and Dawg Gone Good I think are the only two I’ve had though. White Tiger rules but I don’t really consider that bbq.
My favorite BBQ in Tuscaloosa was Horn's but it closed my second year in school because the owner retired and his kids didn't want to keep running it. 2nd best was the BBQ nachos at that temporary place on the strip that only opened on GameDay weekends. Can't remember the name but think it was something like the big bad wolf.
They had expanded at one point to have a location in Mobile. Was pretty solid. But it shut down years ago, never been to the OG. I dont even know what the best BBQ in Mobile is anymore. Used to be The Brick Pit on Old Shell but it closer at one point and not sure it's open or changed hands or what. May be Moe's by default now. TrustyPatches learn us something
It was Big Bad Wolves, correct. They still open on the Houndstooth patio for game weekends as far as I know. I always thought it was good but overhyped.
Place I mentioned above is in mobile and really good. Read something calling it best bbq in Alabama so I checked it out.
I don't know man. I still remember those nachos almost 15 years later. Horne's was right across the street from my apartment and I ate their at least twice a week. They had BBQ stuffed potatoes and even a great BBQ salad that I would smother in BBQ sauce and ranch.
Interesting. Never heard of them but I haven't been around mobile for a year and really the better part of two years. Wonder when it opened. I'll have to check it out some time.
I'm in Ocean Springs so about 10 minute drive from there. I order it on Waitr a good bit. I get the mixed plate with smoked chicken and pulled pork. I like it. They have good sauce. I've never ordered their ribs.
Full Moon is bbq for people who judge bbq restaurants by their sides. edit: fucked that up the first time. OG dreamland is good, franchises are serviceable.
Ribs and the brisket were my go to. I was in Biloxi 2 months or so for work and ate there probably 3 times a week.
I eat Moes or Rogers mostly but Meatboss gets a ton of love. Haven’t tried it yet, might do that this weekend
