Finally beat that cunty Elden Beast. Time to backtrack to clean up some loose ends so I can plat and then start my ng+ game.
If they keep adding additional NPC storylines and content little-by-little, the urge to keep playing is never going to leave me. I’m 300+ hours in and I can’t wait to start the next one. I’m going to start a new game and get the Cinqueda early and play with it and the beast incantations only. Debating whether I want go to full pyro or spear and shield after that.
I feel like I’m never going to get the level of knowledge I need to finish this game. I don’t even know 10% of the words you guys are using. Is there a book or something I can read?
Ive been playing souls games for 8ish years. I was a wide-eyed lad for a long time. Don’t let that diminish the fun that you’re having. Don’t get caught up in the need to know everything all at once. Just play the game and struggle through it. Grind it out. Feel that sense of accomplishment with what you were able to do on your own. Over time, you’ll gain all the extra knowledge and then wish that you could go back to the time when everything was fresh.
They added a small area behind the bestial sanctum with a couple items originally and now they added a little bit extra to Patches and I think they’re expanding Vyke’s story.
I’m about 30 hours in to my first NGP run but I’ve hit a wall at about 240 hours in which is crazy because I usually hit a wall at about the 100 hr mark on most open world games. If they add some more NPC quests I’ll definitely come back. I need to get my lazy ass back to reading Wheel of Time though so I’m ready to step away for a bit
After about 27 attempts I decided to do the ole stick of dynamite up the pooper glitch. really no idea how this happened but man was I happy
absolutely not. but a very welcomed glitch. audibly celebrated because the closest I had gotten in the 25 tries before that was barely getting his life down to his name
Dragonlord Placidusax and Maliketh giving me fits as well. Maliketh's 2nd phase can wreck my great mimic. Once he turns his focus to me it's over with
from my understanding after Maliketh (and placid if I want to actually beat him) it's on to Melinia and then the capital to face Mohg underground and then the Elden Beast is the final boss to complete the story? I'm ready for an NG+ with a new build. No idea what I'm going to go with though but once I got to the Atlas Plateau I stopped clearing out every dungeon in each area before moving on and just started doing the main ones/ones that bosses dropped something I wanted.
Maliketh gave me fits. I would get wrecked so fast in second phase I could never learn his move set. Rivers of Blood was the only way I could beat him solo after a lot of tries. The dragon didn’t give me too many fits for some reason. Malenia’s Haligtree, Mogh/frenzied flame area, and final bosses are what you have left. Have fun getting to Mogh. The jumping is really annoying.
So I have a melee build (vagabond knight) because I didn’t know any better. All I’ve been leveling is strength and hit points. At what point should I consider putting points elsewhere?
If you are using strength weapons only, then I would get vitality and strength to 40, then endurance to 40, then increase vitality and strength to 60, then back to endurance until around 60. At that point, put it either in strength to 80 or dex. If you want to use dex or quality (equal scaling for strength and dex) weapons then you want to split the difference and go 40/40 for str and dex. If you find a weapon you want to use that has a faith or into requirement, then level that. However, you may want to look that weapon up and see what it’s main scaling is. For a lot of weapons, you’re going to get more damage using the minimum str/dex requirement and pumping up either faith or int. You can always respec too once you get past Rennala.
I’m doing a hybrid sword/incantation build. Got vitality/dex/str to 20 and now pumping up faith. How high do I need to take my vitality and mind stats by the end of the game? I’m like 62 right now
My vitality is only 33 right now but I use the talisman Radan's Greatseal or whatever that raises up your attributes so I think it adds ~5 to that number. Health bar is high enough that nothing one-shots me and my healing potion can't nearly heal all the way at +7. Mind I think I'm around ~33 as well and I use the crest talisman that lowers FP used by stuff + another blue twig looking one that gives back a little bit of FP for every enemy you kill. Since I pretty much only melee using the moonveil swipe that mind/talisman combo is great and they help with ranged attack being rock sling too. very rarely do I ever use more than 2 FP potions between save points in dungeons. Most of the time just 1. Even in longer boss fights where I'm just rock slinging the whole time while my mimic has their attention, I've never run out of FP/Potions (I allocate 4 to blue so I can have 2 in co-op)
Vitality needs to be 60 by end game. Trust me. Mind 25-40 depending on how much you use FP. If you’re mainly melee, lower end. If you cast a lot or use lots of weapon art, higher end.
what level are you at end game? 120 or 150? Trying to be efficient and map out my future levels. If it’s 120, the majority of my next 60 levels will need to be in vitality and mind. I certainly die a decent amount but haven’t found my vitality to be too low yet. I’m just entering the carian manor right now.
If you want to PVP, don’t get over 150. If you don’t care about that, then your level doesn’t matter. Just keep progressing.
I beat the game at like 153. I had 60 health, 60 intelligence (for my Moonveil) and the rest was stamina and mind. Don’t even fuck with any holy shit for the Elden Beast. It actually increases the assholes health.
I just checked and I beat my last run at 165 with no farming or use of golden runes. Just started an NG+ with the frozen needle and antspur rapier and it’s a lot of fun so far. A nice change from colossal weapons.
I saved them all to the end and then bought 60 smithing stones of each and 15 of each somber stone. Then I upgraded a bunch of weapons and replenished my stock for NG+. That takes a lot of runes. Well, I saved all the big ones. I used the random small ones throughout the playthrough.
one of my favorite bands released this shirt for a limited time during a twitch stream of a concert last night and it shut down their servers and I couldn’t get one
Made it to Malenia and it feels impossible with low health. Especially when she is regaining health even when I block attacks. Apparently that's a thing from the most recent patch
she could always heal from blocks there’s a glitch in the new patch where sometimes she will heal when she hits nothing but air too
Ah, well thats unfortunate. Her recovery is stronger than the amount of attacks I can get in. Had her under half health and she got back up close to full a few times last night. I did get lucky and made it to the second phase today on my first try, only to get one shot immediately after the cutscene.
Do some of the mini bosses not regenerate when you save? I'm in the castle trying to get to the boss there and some of them haven't come back to life when I save.
How much should I upgrade a regular old sword before I start saving smithing stones for something magical?
run directly at her when she does the flower of rot thing the only direction it cannot go is like straight down I got to stage 2 11 times before I realized that and killed her the first time after that
Got myself and my mimic yanked out in Lynel armor and anti-holy stuff. radagon is easy peasy once you get his timing down Elden beast is a tanky ass space brontosaurus that I can’t get past half health
what's the strategy for elden beast? I know the "just stand behind him" but he swims away and makes you run a quarter mile to get close to him again, while attempting to dodge his attacks, only to swim away again once I get remotely near him. basically once I get 1/3 of his life down he runs away anytime I get close to him.
More dps. Or learn to dodge all of the attacks and don’t be greedy. Get it to half health and then summon mimic tear for the end. The first time, I used a lot of the aromatic potions and nullify a hit. They were very useful.
what if you absolutely need the mimic to get you past radagon without using too much of your potions. asking for a friend
*I can beat radagon without getting hit once sometimes with the mimic present. Haven't attempted without him honestly but my entire strategy for quickly beating radagon is moonslicing him while he focuses on mimic = 5x = breaks him. Can normally kill him before I even have him broken the 2nd time.
You know you can switch to a different weapon, spawn in mimic tear and it will use that weapon throughout the fight? Could be a good idea to level a hard hitting weapon that you aren’t particularly good with just for mimic tear to use. It will also use whatever consumables you have equipped
i do think I need to do this but with spells. I saw the YT vid of the Mimic v Melinia 1v1 and the mimic only cast Erdtree Heal and some Black Smoke ring spell the entire time. The only spell I use in the combo fight is Comet Azur so I could just equip the best heal and that spell is level 153 high enough for a mediocre player to beat this fight?
ER is my first From game and I beat her around level 150. I use Comet Azure but she’s so fast I never used it. I just relied on my +10 Moonveil and my Mimic. Probably took me 50 tries to beat her but I also spent much of that when she was glitched and gained health back even when she missed strikes.
