I could see monkey pox being really bad on the back end of covid Conspiracy theories will be absolutely out of control
I think the important part is this That is, they took independent evolutionary routes to getting infectious, so theres still opportunity to get more and more infectious for any particular variant
Its saying they developed high transmissibility separate ways, say way A, way B, way C. Presumably, one variant doing way C can still mutate to adopt parts of way A and way B to get even more transmissibility
I got my first symptoms of COVID on 7/12. Tested negative on 7/13 (may have been user error) but positive on 7/15. I had another positive test on 7/23 but finally felt better and tested negative on 7/28. Still have lingering sinus issues, cough, and the occasional spike in temperature so have mostly stayed isolated. I live alone and work from home 90% of the time, so isolation has become the norm and I haven't had any issues with it until now. Over the course of the last week, once a day a strong wave of depression comes over me. I eventually snap out of it but this is out of character for me. Anyone else dealing with lingering mental health issues that are hopefully side effects of COVID?
bro I would suggest talking to a therapist or something. don’t let something like depression linger (not saying you are), even if you think it’s a Covid side effect. I understand your sense of general depression as I felt a wave of it day 1 with Covid (which took 9 days to clear; very very mild symptoms). general fear of spreading it to my family and it knocking us all down, my symptoms taking turn for worse, etc., all that was pretty heavy. however that all passed as my symptoms never got worse and my whole family got it in a matter of days, thankfully all mild. hope this is somewhat helpful for you. please consider talking to a therapist or at least a consult. hell, talk here if even mildly therapeutic.
Day 0 and day 1 alight runny nose day 2 fever chills nausea aches. I guess after avoiding it for two+ years I couldn’t have it that easy.
Yeah theres a ton of reported cases of psych effects following having covid, like depression. Its not uncommon at all, and you may want to reach out to your docs when you can about it
pretty cool that twitter is just allowing #monkeypoxisairborne to trend without any misinformation labeling
poxviruses can be spread through respiratory droplets, but it is certainly not airborne in the sense that it floats in the air. they are also highly stable on surfaces.
am I off base but wasn’t the Omicron that spread in December, January cleared through much quicker ? seemed like some were negative in like 3 days but this one is 10 which is hell
Wondering if that was because many people had a more recent booster, while now we're about 10 months out for those of us who got our last shot in early October.
People from nurse reddit some weeks ago were getting really annoyed at hospital downsizing custodial staff and reusing clean-looking linens between patients Hopefully just shitposts
I love it when people tell me they are spiritual, but not religious. The appropriate response is always, “I’m not honest, but you’re interesting!”
Oh nice. My daughters best friend who is 5 spent 2 weeks in the hospital and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. Eventually an ophthalmologist found some brain swelling and they were able to eventually diagnose as Lyme. What a gift for that 5 year old who couldn’t keep food down and almost died!
im at a breaking point with this shit. I am Day 3 positive and feeling better but now my 5 year old got sick last night and is testing positive again. He just tested positive on July 13 and then negative like 4 days after that with very mild symptoms. Now he's a little more sick but only 3 weeks after his first positive test. wtf.
Fiancée is in full spiral germaphobe mode over monkeypox. She either jokingly or not said this morning that she was considering wiping groceries again. Which has nothing to do with this, right? TikTok is doomer clickbait blitzkrieg on roids mixed with cute dogs.
Dunno that its THAT bad but it certainly seems to be spreading faster than just through sweet, sweet gay sex. As a dude who chews his own lips nervously sometimes, even more reason to keep masking
I think it’s more like fabric and porous surfaces that can possibly spread it but I think that’s like the least likely was it’s spread. It’s pretty much direct close contact or someone coughs or sneezes in your face.
I’d also think anyone showing up to work with sores all over their hands and face would probably be asked to go home and take some sick time but who knows? Capitalism!
My 2 year old got her 2nd Pfizer dose today. Any hope that her third dose in 8 weeks could be the updated vaccine?
Finally tested positive this morning for the first time in the pandemic. First symptom came up Monday night, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday. Slept for about 11 hours last night and took a test when I finally woke up. My symptoms were similar to others with sore throat/chills/headache but then last night I knew it had to be Covid when just sitting on the couch my watch kept telling me my heart rate was elevated. Feel significantly better today so hopefully I’m on the mend
2 YO is getting his first shot today, I’m nervous even though I know I shouldn’t be. Turns out being bombarded with propaganda by your father affects you no matter what.
The other cool thing about COVID that you don’t expect are the constant bouts of watery shits. Insult to injury since I have no appetite
So fucking pissed, finally popped +. And tonight when my wife had gotten me tickets to The Head and The Heart with Dawes opening. That is/was my birthday present. Non-refundable. So much for a double date with one of my best friends that I get to see 1-2 times a year. Levi had fever on Tuesday during day but was easily managed and gone next day. Wife was at zoo yesterday and got pretty badly dehydrated. Both tested negative after their episodes. I came home early from work today and took a nap due to exhaustion, woke up with a raspy throat and tested positive.
11month old daughter’s daycare teacher just popped positive so about to get a little taste of round 2 baby glad she at least got her first dose last week
Same. My wife is taking our 2 yr old to her cousin’s wedding next weekend in Arkansas. No one there will be wearing masks so there’s no way they don’t both catch it. Trying to figure out how to quarantine myself for when she gets back.
