Yup. The high end allegation with the “Lily” victim rides the line of illegal. The rest is all immoral sleazy old rock star shit with the extra layer of ick by blaming Regine’s miscarriage for his deviance. There are certainly more victims yet to share/scared to come forward. r/Music was highly disappointing in their collective opinion in the comments, talking about how they’re just regretful adult groupies. This certainly misses the core issue and takes all of the critical eye away from Win Butler and focuses it onto these barely out of high school women.
PeterGriffin has a good read on it. I think he's also being let off easier since his wife knows and said it's ok
Added all the bands I wasn't following from that Brighton festival and see a Plastic Mermaids EP out today. First song is pretty rad. Didn't do a good job of finding new bands this summer iyam but this is a good way to make up for that
another winner from the dummy instagram stories. these guys are rad. have a couple of albums and a new one out in a few weeks. some strong 90s stereolab/mbv vibes
all 3 albums announced for October release, one of them's just two 15 minute tracks so that should be interesting first single from Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava
I fucking loved King Gizzard at the beginning. And still appreciate the sound. But their release schedule and approach is so antithetical to how I enjoy music and albums that I just gave up.
I enjoy what they're doing from a performance art perspective but yeah it's too much to actually keep up with note for note. God knows what all they work in there. Last album I listened to (from earlier this year) had several songs with rap vocals
That last one is a bit of an anomaly to me, typically they stick with a theme on each album but for that one it was like they got to the midterm and wanted to show everything they'd learned up to that point They've made a handful of albums I truly love and their base sound resonates with me, but overall during this crazy run of output I'd definitely say I've been a bigger fan of their ambition to be constantly moving in different directions and just the kind of people they are in general than the music itself
Their amount of content is certainly detrimental. I got into them earlier this year because they were at a festival I was hoping to attend, but I might have digested at most half of their output at that time. I am the kind of fan who wants to know full set lists before seeing a band, and it’s impossible to prep for that with them. Infest the rats nest is my favorite one. I wish they would explore that sound more consistently.
Well this is splendid. Plan tomorrow morning. Gummy, 545 departure and a 5-6 mile trek with 35 pounds. You know the soundtrack.
I'm so so so excited lol. Drinking tea, eating 75 MG, listening to Sheer Mag very loudly and pouring over maps of the Grand Canyon in anticipation of what is very likely to be among my top three albums of the year
So my younger brother is in a band out in LA. They released a new single this past week. Their drummer couldn’t make the scheduled video shoot, so they just had a friend goof off around LA so that they had something on video to release with the song. I’m digging the way their sound is evolving. My brother is the lead vocals and lead guitar, and this is one of his songs which are more of an alternative sound, while the other guitarist/singer’s songs tend more towards a punk sound. Anyways, being a supportive older brother, here is their new single, “Something to Shout.”
thinking about our boy Willy out and about in the wild likely on spin #42 of Preoccupations right now
Got Jockstrap, Preoccupations and Built to Spill today. Next Friday is huge for me. Death Cab, the Beths and Whitney
Bus troubles had to run my daughter into school. Just going out now! Be back to report in 90-120 minutes. Fix bayonets!
So I got in three rounds so far. I don’t think I’d be disappointed with almost anything that they put out, it will be in heavy rotation. I did also refrain from playing the shit out of the singles, which is good, because like Cola it’s on the shorter side.
Think you might like the new Madison Cunningham out today as well. Add in Rina Sawayama to that trio next week and it's probably the best release day for the rest of the year.
