Been doing smoothies every morning for years. Here’s what I do. Decaffeinated green tea diced fresh ginger half a lemon squeezed nonfat Greek yogurt handful of baby carrots spinach or kale or both half a frozen banana frozen strawberries frozen blueberries frozen mango
Been adding half an avocado to the morning recipe. Muy bien. Been simple the past few weeks: -handful of blueberries -handful of spinach/leafy green -half cucumber -half avocado -banana -raw egg -leche de coco
Reading this thread made start adding spinach to my smoothies. Definitely a good thing to get some greens in. Don't even notice it's in there. Almond milk Flaxseed Chia seeds Peanut butter 1 - 1.5 Frozen bananas Plain Greek yogurt Orgain protein powder (currently using chocolate) Spinach
Yea I have been doing a bunch of spinach in mine recently. Mine have been a random assortment of fruit, spinach, flaxseed Chia seed Green tea powder Almond milk A carrot Having a Vitamix makes a huge difference. It’s like having a cheat code for smoothies.
I don't have a vitamix and anytime I put greek yogurt of any kind in my smoothies is makes it too chunky/thick to drink. is my ninja blender sub-par? I typically just do frozen fruit/veggie smoothie costco mix + a little more of either strawberries or bananas + orange juice + almond milk I get a large serving of veggies at night with dinner and don't eat breakfast. Smoothie is normally a sipper drink from 1-3pm bc mine always end up being ~28-32oz
I’ve had this problem with my ninja as well. Doing the extract setting instead of smooth has helped a little bit, but I make mine similar to yours and are still way too thick out of the blender.
I have a ninja and it is not impressive at all. Those blades just slice through things and don’t blend well.
Started doing smoothies for lunch about 6 weeks ago. I used to meal prep fairly healthy things to take to the office and then fell in a bad habit of making way less healthy meals when Covid started. Was really just trying to clean up my diet a bit and get in some more fruits/veggies and ended up dropping quite a few pounds without changing anything else. Also don't end up with a mid-afternoon energy crash anymore which is nice. Usually do: Kale Banana Variety of frozen fruit Almond milk Almond butter Protein powder Going to go through the thread and steal some ideas to start mixing things up.
My daily smoothie is simple because I’m a basic bitch. 1.5 cups frozen cherries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries 1 cup of dragonfruit juice 1/2 cup of whatever vanilla yogurt is on sale Water All organic and spun up with a vitamix obvs. My antioxidant levels are off the charts.
I don't like frozen fruit, not sure why. Think I subconsciously prefer it more fresh? I also stop by a farmer's market 2-3x week and just get whatever's fresh. I was in a bad habit for a while of getting the same thing over and over and it was getting really mundane. This week I went with: -mixed greens (kale/lettuce/spinach) -1/2 avocado -1 kiwi -1/2 cucumber -1/4 papaya + spoonful of papaya seeds -1 banana -spoonful of greek yogurt -1 raw egg -almond milk I usually make my smoothie first thing when I get up and sip it while reading. Then make my coffee, have 2-3 cups, then have a bagel with cream cheese around 9-9:30.
My go to is - 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder -Banana -Peanut butter -Blueberries I use water instead of milk or yogurt. Delicious
I’ve also had a smoothie every morning for the last 5-10 years. I alternate between two varities: Greens, banana, pb, oats, chia seeds, chocolate protein. Greens, banana, pineapple, splash of oj, oats, chia, vanilla protein Basically just try to get a nice mix of greens, carbs, fats, and protein to kick off the day.
Not that I can tell, but I also don't have the most refined palate. Sometimes I'll also scoop out the papaya, add yogurt in the middle, and then sprinkle the seeds on the yogurt.
I eat a lot of papaya, and you can dry out the seeds and use them as a pepper substitute, so I was just curious.
Just add some water. Adding more banana will also thicken it. I also have a ninja and it’s not the best, but once you dial it in its great.
My kid is a savagely picky eater- I rock this smoothie for him to get some veggies in and he loves it: 1/2 avocado 1/2 cup milk 1/2 banana 1.5 tbsp cocoa powder 1 cup packed spinach 1/4 cucumber 2 medjool dates 1 tsp vanilla Add water as thickness requires (need to be somewhat thick to suspend the dates) back out the cucumber, make it a whole avocado and whole banana and sub more milk for proper thickness and this makes a banging chocolate pudding
been getting back into the morning smoothie game the past couple weeks water mixed greens blueberry or raspberry strawberry banana protein powder chia seeds
been starting my mornings off with a simple peanut butter banana smoothie lately and I can't go back 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk 2 tbsp cacao powder 2 heaping tbsp peanut butter squeeze of honey banana
I bought some power greens from Sam's when they were on sale. I put kale or spinach in all my smoothies so it's probably pointless, but if you don't then it probably has benefits. Not a fan of chalky taste though.
I do the same. Will also throw a scoop in with just a protein shake cause why not. In my head the shitty taste = healthy.
Trying to eat with the seasons/eat more locally grown stuff, so not many Mexican avocados. Farmer's Markets in Canada are pretty legit -- recipe for the past few weeks Swiss chard Baby kale Cucumbers Carrots Blueberries Raspberries Strawberries Turmeric and ginger root Hemp seeds Mushroom supplement: I can basically see through walls at this point.
