Looks like Starship is go for Monday morning. If it really does go this early, I may be able to see the glow from the rocket in SW Florida as it crosses the Keys.
Not super surprising given this is the first time they launched with both rockets together. They don't blow up the launch tower, probably most important thing.
Admittedly I don't know the right answer here but this is our space program, like it or not. Shouldn't we pull for success and hope Elon does himself in?
Elon's a turd, but was it a surprise that this first attempt wasn't 100% successful? I'm not rooting for Elon, but making advances in space shit...I'm rooting for that.
Looking at the replay, it almost looked like the rocket immediately took off at a slight angle, wonder if the 5 engine flameout caused it to launch weirdly.
test failed successfully I guess all in all they got more than they wanted out of this one. Got it in the air, launch facilities are fine, and have a lot of data to work over for next time. They seemed to lose like 5-6 raptors during the initial stage. Wonder if that put thrust off balance for the turn and sent it spiraling?
This is how I feel about both SpaceX and Tesla. I want them to be successful because they're good things for humanity. I just wish Elon had nothing to do with that success.
This is 100% the boat I am in. I love space and will take whatever we can get that moves this along. Same for Bezos. Not ideal to have them leading it but if its what we have its what we have.
Lmao wait the thing that did a dozen spirals before blowing up cost $3b? well I’m glad they got data or whatever excuse they’re making this made my day
Pretty sure this. It launched off center and then slowly rotated into a spiral. Honestly I'm surprised they let it rotate for so long before terminating. Must have still been over the Gulf and allowed for more data capture.
Honestly getting off the launch pad is a big deal for a first time launch of an incredibly complicated system. See the original Mercury Redstones, or the Soviet moon rocket that NEVER worked, or the first several Falcon launches, or any number of purely military rocket launches.

It’s like the movie Europa Report, but they’re taking the safer option and sending a robot instead of a manned mission.
