Nah the deadline is the time to do it because that’s when direction is actually needed. You just order the government to keep spending the money previously authorized by Congress.
Truman Once again they chose to do this to themselves. They're either complicit or dumb, it's pointless to run cover for them because all evidence is out there that they ran the clock down because they chose not to do other options to help their constituents and had already decided to hurt millions of people instead of doing the right thing and prepping to fight back against the GOP's Draconian demands. This could've been avoided and they actively chose not to try and avoid this
It's the same questions we ask every time. They're either lazy, dumb, cowardly, or complicit. We see how they'll fight for things they care about. Makes no sense not to do something that's a complete layup. No wonder that a lot of people just check out on engaging in support of the Ds. When the Ds show even the tiniest amount of leadership, the excitement in the D base in palpable. That makes their fecklessness even more maddening.
Maybe it's time for POTUS to grow a pair of balls and dare the court to enforce it, just like all the fucking restrictions to abortion medication. At some point this country is going to have an existential crisis related to the courts, we can force it sooner or deal with it later.
Starting to think our politicians are the dumbest, most narcissistic, self serving assholes in the country and don’t give a damn about the well-being of their constituents as long as their pockets continue to grow.
It's a problem intrinsic in monetizing everything. I have asked myself if I would be able to turn down mountains of cash to do the right thing.
Maybe I am giving them too much credit but I imagine it isn't an all-at-once thing. They take a little extra from this group to do this thing and if it doesn't seem like it is hurting anyone that I deal with (or only dealing a little of not-so-great to a smaller group of people) then it isn't that bad. Then it just keeps escalating and escalating and they are explaining everything away as they take more and more money.
It’s shockingly little how much money it takes to buy their votes though. I’d be a real pricey whore.
First rule of politics is a politician will make the decision that will best help them get re-elected. In an oligarchy that is desperate for campaign finance reform, that choice is just about always the one with the most campaign donations. This country isn't fair is what I'm saying.
this is 100% true in my world (building products) although price hikes have seemingly ended but they aren’t going backwards at all
Seems like this has been going on for a while and was passed off as inflation from the American Rescue Act or whatever
Of course. When you bring that up you get mocked for not understanding economics. If they didnt print trillions of free dollars, there wouldnt be demand for the prices to go up! Then you have to have a discussion about inelastic goods with people who accuse you have not understanding economics. Good times!
I thought economics 101 taught that sellers will continue raise prices until the market convinces them to stop?
Union of federal employees has filed for an injunction requiring all government payments, including salaries, to continue. This would essentially negate the debt limit statute. Hearing set for next week.
That's if there's a legit market which, most markets in the United States are heavily consolidated with only a few large companies dominating everything. It doesn't take a lot of people to keep prices high in any one industry.
Fucking knew it. Iron balusters are like $10/each because just because. The supply bottlenecks of the pandemic are gone. It's just gouging now. I can't wait to be done building my house
I remember being assured that asking companies to pay workers a living wage was the reason. Was I lied to?
No you see - it's the DA's fault that repeat offenders and threats to public safety have charges dropped
This is awesome. Probably difficult for the US, but mainly just jealous. It's dope to show up at a train 10 min before it leaves, no security, no 2 hrs before hand. Food/Drink cars available
MN just ripped off a policy buzzsaw despite just a one vote majority in the legislature. All broadly popular policy. Strong AF democratic caucus in our state that I think will only get stronger
They’re being shown government works. If the citizens reject it then they’re just miserable cunts. Democrats did all they could stupid fucking fascists in florida would reject because they want minorities and lgbtq murdered more than they want to better their own lives
States also need to dump any and all shitty Mansion dems that sandbag progeessive agendas. Re-label them and run their reputation into the ground
Could do it with no flights within a state or to adjacent states. Not that it would ever fucking happen while we’re on the fissile fuel teat.
