It was oleary who said every time you lose a game you die a little inside. I'm fucking rotting in the grave after this season.
Very glad I was never invested in this game. Fuck this season. We should just play every game in the rain and hope the other team doesn't bring any rain gear.
And yet Gus has so much of the fanbase kiss his ass the conference change isn’t an excuse . We looked better vs ACC teams under the last two coaches
I wont say I’m confident he will be a consistent guy either but I can’t fault a guy being thrown into a game late. Again because the starter doesn’t know how to keep himself intact. And again because the playcalling pretends that the qb knows how to keep himself intact. 1st half wide receivers open everywhere and then one end zone drop and it’s all OLeary ball from there.
Trash season but I get not every season can be a banger. Fine. But what pisses me off is we have an AD who thinks he’s the coolest to be friends with Gus and gave him an extension that no one else wanted.
JRP had the most JRP game i've ever seen. it was a fitting end to his career here. starts off looking incredible then inexplicably turns to utter trash and relies on his feet and ends up leaving game injured yet again. he's consistent in that regard.
Half of those 4 stars will end up elsewhere in 2-3 years. They aren't going to make a material difference this season. Without a QB on the roster it's hard to see more than 4 wins
Hate this type of take but I didn’t realize none of the other new members made a bowl. Not that it changes my perspective of the season but I just didn’t notice
I wonder how much of that too is Hinshaw/Gus. Obviously they knew how to script up a few drives but as soon as any defense adjusted we wouldn’t adapt. Then again, kind of chicken and egg problem because maybe there is not much they felt they could do with a limited QB.
If Gus can't win with KJ, he needs to do some serious questioning. That's as close to his prototype QB as he'll get at UCF, in my opinion. Granted, the defense is still a problem and we need probably another year or so of developing some Big 12 level defensive players...but he can't have the offense stall like he did this year late in games.
Has there been any talk about staff changes by Brandon or anyone else? I gotta imagine it would happen any time now.
We can go 0-12 next year and we aren't firing Gus. But we wont. We will have 8 wins and be disappointed.
His stats before this season were pretty damn good, especially if you consider he’s playing in the SEC West. Arky struggled a lot this season, and their OL was a disaster. I think KJ was their leading rusher. He’s kind of the perfect fit for Gus.
He didn’t leave on great terms. Kind of packed it in when he got a big NIL deal and didn’t give a shit. It’s hard for me to be hard on him though because he was a warrior for most of his career here and holds every QB record there is for us. We tried to make him a pocket passer and take a bunch of snaps under center this past season when that just isn’t his game. His shoulder also got banged up this year and he didn’t take many deep shots, but two years ago he was one of the better deep ball throwers in the country. If you’re running a spread tempo offense he’s going to be fine. Hope he does well wherever he goes.
