Here're the ones I remember being posted about: Hardcore History Planet Money Serial Philosophize This! Common Sense History of Rome
Spontaneanation by Paul F. Tompkins just started. It's awesome. Completely improved scene based on an interview he does with a guest.
Slate Political Gabfest and Whistlestop are pretty good. There is also one called Home of the Brave they talked about at the end of This American Life a few weeks back. I've been listening and it's pretty good. Only problem is the guy is monotoned as hell
It's kinda like a shorter version of This American Life but it mostly centers around the host's experiences. The last two episodes were about him going to Afghanistan and meeting a teenager and the kid coming to America and going to college where the guy teaches. The guy seems pretty weird but has a lot of interesting stuff to talk about.
I've really enjoyed You Must Remember This about historical figures in hollywood. They're about 30-50 minutes long and sort of tell tales about old hollywood. The girl telling it can be annoying though.
If you listen to This American Life, it's the guy from the episode a couple weeks back who went around interviewing schizophrenics.
Radiolab Invisibilia Serial Ted Radio Hour Tried Hardcore history but didn't know where to begin... guy has like 9 hours of content on Mongolia. Tips? Does it go in order or are episodes standalone?
In addition to the above, the Cracked podcast has been hugely enjoyable for me. I went back and crushed out all 100-something of them.
the series are in order and should be listened to in that way. They are awesome I listen to these four plus the slate political podcast, like your taste!
How Did This Get Made is awesome. Nerdist will have really great interviews with famous/interesting people. Backstory is a good American history podcast that talks more about themes in history that were present in the 17th-20th century, rather than focus on a single historical event.
Just because they're not posted. Comedy bang bang and the monday morning podcast. Pretty much the only reason I look forward to mondays
Some others I like that haven't been mentioned -BBC World Update-summarizes the news stories of the day for about 30 minutes -Fareed Zakaria GPS-touches on important topics and always has A-list guests and panels -Freakonomics Radio-like Stuff You Should Know, but better done. -Mysterious Universe-show is typically an hour long and they talk about some pretty far-fetching scientific concepts that the mainstream public does not know or has refuted for the wrong reasons
I listened to a lot of Star Talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson this weekend. I like it a lot and he usually has some pretty good guests. Very easy listening, he keeps things pretty simple
shows I listen to are: Never Not Funny Comedy Bang Bang How Did This Get Made Bill Simmons New NBA Show Lauren Lapkus's show, which has probably one of the funniest episodes i have heard.
I have been listening to Analyze Phish for the first time and the 2 shows where Scott brings the recorder to the live shows are amazing.
After one day I am in love with Hardcore History. Any way to get more than the 15 or so available free? Dying for the WWII stuff.
Talking about Ghosts of the Ostfront? I think I paid $6 for it, and it's like 5 hours. They can probably be found out there somewhere in the torrentverse. There are some on youtube also.
Or you can just buy it. Carlin puts so much time into that podcast, it's the least you can do if you love it as much as you say you do.
leviathan wakes wormwood we're alive the moth edict zero: fis pseudopod escape pod the partially examined life if you like philosophize this
I guess I could ask this on the ASOIAF board but I got an alert for this thread...Which GOT podcast do you like best?
does it do episode recap? I listen to it on my commute with a guy who just watches the show, so that's a limiting factor
Yes. They do a long recap that's showfag safe. Then also usually another 20 min pod that's more for bookfags They also have a lot of good book discussion pods in their library
I'm on chapter 6 of Leviathan Chronicles and it's pretty damn good. The quality of the voice actors and the sound effects is really well put together and definitely helps to illustrate the story more.
I re-started the Hardcore History thread but I don't think anyone responded so I'm going to ask here. I listened to the first 5 parts of Blueprint for Armageddon and I guess another part is coming out? Anybody have any idea when this will be?
This one got a little more action http://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/dan-carlin-and-revolutions-podcasts.120559/ As for the new ep - not sure when its coming out, but hopefully soon. I think the next one he begins to discuss entering the war
Nice, I searched and didn't find anything. I was really confused when it was 1916 and I only had one episode left and was like how the fuck is he going to finish the war? Then after listening to Episode 5 I realized I'm an idiot and more were coming out.
Dan Carlin @HardcoreHistory 4m4 minutes ago Sorry I have been MIA lately (but you all know what I've been working on!).It will be out within 24 hours. Thanks all!
