I've got a rotation of sites I tend to check every few days (Brooklyn Vegan, Paste, Consequence of Sound, DIY Mag, etc) for new songs and album announcements. Brooklyn Vegan and Paste always have good new release roundups on Friday's. But I've also got a big album tracking list that I keep updated during the year for new and upcoming releases. That's the easiest way for me.
they always seem to come in waves for me, I'll go months without finding anything interesting from them and then get a handful of quality albums in a week or two think I'm also pickier than most though
I'm no where near as prolific as SC, but I have found good luck on Spotify with "Radio" of something I enjoy or even song. I also find out what songs I like and look for associated playlists. Not always a hit but it's worked.
Cornelius Suttree what do you think of new Beach Fossils single? Sound was a bit pedestrian on first listen, but I like the anagram LINE (love is not enough)
I am trembling. New Preoccupations album announcement seems imminent Oh and Preoccupations and METZ?? Gosh I liked it. Sounded like Beach Fossils does dream pop. Think it was via Secretly Canadian but reminded me of something you'd hear on Captured Tracks in the early 2010s
I agree it was verifiably Beach Fossils from the opening seconds. Hope you’re doing well this evening
I noticed not much here in Houston and the ones we got seem to be higher priced than normal. I'm guessing the pricing is due to covid/being shut down for so long etc.
This is such a pretty ass song, and I've had a couple bourbons, so it sounds even prettier right now.
band of horses are by far the worst band i've ever seen live he sings so off key live it's annoying and they also restarted multiple songs because they kept messing up hopefully that was a one off
I have seen quite a few recorded live concerts and didn't get that impression. I absolutely love BoH, so that would really suck. They are one of the bands that inspired me to really look into indie rock. The playlist that I still listen to to this day was inspired by an Apple Genius Band of Horses suggestion that I just kept building on. Yes, that would be super disappointing. I don't need them to be great. Good will work.
that's why I think it was probably an off night for them or something I remember watching them do a live thing on youtube at grand central I think and that got me excited to see them
I don't recall glaring vocal issues like that when I saw Band of Horses in 2015, but I was also pretty damn drunk
Incubus was horrible live as well. Talking like 2000 version so far before their career trajectory was pointing underground. Such a disappointment.
I've seen them 3x (ducks) and the first two were good. Third time they literally played entirely radio singles and that took away from it for me. My first time was 2000 as well, they played a big outdoor festival here
I liked the creativity and eclecticism they brought. Over time I realized Brandon Boyd wasn't quite the clever lyricist I thought
haven't given it a listen yet but from the singles it seemed to be one of the random directions they'll go in that I don't enjoy all that much no biggie though I'm sure we'll get something else in a month or two
Ain't that the truth. I just don't want them to waste time playing anything from that album when I see them in a couple of months.
I'm about 3/4 through and so far I like the Modest Mouse album more than I thought I would on first listen. Pretty sure it's really good but need a few more listens.
Appreciate it man, I can wait til tomorrow though. I stream everything and have nothing downloaded. I would be interested in a list of your favs from 2021 so far if you want to post that
