To be fair, Brand New is one of the best live bands I've ever seen, but she wasn't wrong at all.
it was just too noisy and busy. i think they had two drummers? the theater has awful acoustics so i’m sure that compounded things but man it was a bad combo
buddy i was with saw them years prior and remarked it was like seeing a different band
Went down a YouTube rabbit hole and forgot how amazing Microwave’s video for “Vomit” is. The song is one of my favorite Microwave tunes too.
The build and crescendo when it kicks in. Fuck.
I've seen MM a few times once was pretty solid, the others were disappointing.
I can't remember how they did that tour to see who would open and who would close - coin flip, certain shows pre-announced, etc.? But my buddy and I went and Brand New was the "opener" and they were so damn good and intense that Modest Mouse was such a let down and we left 12 songs in. The venue was literally emptying about half way through MM's set, I don't know how they didn't just stop subjecting themselves to going after Brand New at that point.
I saw the NINJA (Nine Inch Nails/Jane's Addiction) tour and they alternated nights opening. NIN opened my night. Poor ol' Jane's Addiction, it was like drinking water after NIN. Stayed for some but left after the energy got so low
So happy I got Brand New last. It was still daylight when MM played, so that didn't help at all.
Girl Ray - Give Me Your Love
Half Waif - Sodium and Cigarettes
Anybody get anything out of the 15 minute ambient track at the end of the new Lord Huron?
Bachelor - Back of My Hand
Album is out today
Yeah, this Bachelor bangs.
This is really good.
god the drumming on this black midi album is just otherworldly
Such a great fucking album and yeah he is absolutely magical. Give that nov3l a spin as well, good listen.

Molly Burch - Heart of Gold
the Black Country, New Road album just keeps growing on me, *maybe* my favorite of the year so far
that drummer is unreal. black midi is not for everybody but they're worth listening/watching just for him
her rise has been awesome to follow. I didn't follow her in the bands she was in before releasing Psychopomp in 2016. But she has certainly been a favorite since that came out. Gotta be pretty talented to make the music she makes while writing a book so many people seem to adore and now get it adapted into a movie
SC ashy larry I'm getting that fo sho
oh most definitely
Lucy Dacus - Brando
Pom Pom Squad - Crying
I went to this on Sunday night and it was fantastic.
Sheesh we're old
Phoebe and Clairo both singing backup on the new Lorde track.
New Clairo. Album out 7/16. Co-produced by Jack Antonoff of Taylor Swift fame, so the production should be top notch.
Deb Never - Disassociate
Blushh - Stressed
Just got tix to Band of Horses at a brand new 500 person venue in Brooklyn. Super psyched to check it out and I've never seen them live.
I guess they are still building it because no pics are available except for this one, but a decent line-up of alt-rock/country indie bands.
big fan of this, Japanese breakfast, and bachelor
was all about small black and Manchester orchestra last month
I feel like this is 2010. Just picked up tix to Manchester Orchestra. My fall lineup so far is…
My Morning Jacket
Band of Horses
Band of Horses and Manchester Orchestra are back to back nights
You’re old as fuck.
