Preoccupations - Death of Melody First song with multiple words in its title since their first self-titled album
Going to see Courtney Barnett tonight as part of a fundraiser event. Same event that I saw Kurt Vile last year. Hopefully it is better than his performance, which was just flat and weird.
Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Jess Williamson have formed a new project named Plains. First single is Problem With It. Album in October.
Not great. He's had neurology issues for about 9 months that seems to be stemming from a brain tumor and he has facial paralysis on one side. He was very agitated last night and one of his eyes is pretty bad and has an ulcerated cornea. He is not dying in the next couple of weeks or so, but he is probably on the way out over the next 6-12 months. Tough to watch. He is almost a 12 year old Australian shepherd who the board actually helped me pick out.
So this Alex G song became popular from Tik Tok I guess in the last 6 months or so. It reminds me so much of Freelance Whales (an old thread favorite - whatever happened to them). Edit: oh damn... https://www.stereogum.com/2178270/f... Computer Games,Darren, Chuck died by suicide.
I knew the song was old, but I have been listening to it a lot lately and I posted it only because it struck me how much it sounded like Freelance Whales.
I loved all of In Light back then. Haven't listened to it in forever, so don't know if it holds up for me.
They would probably resent this comparison, but they had almost an Incubus sound at times. Kitchen sink approach with instrumentation
posted this dude a while back when I was in my r&b phase. super talented. you should check out mormor
This is great news. Plains is playing at Knuckleheads, an excellent venue in KC, just a few weeks before Kevin Morby is. That probably rules out my ideal KC-based concert--a Kevin Morby/Waxahatchee New Year's Eve concert at a local venue, but this is a great consolation prize.
Plains has MJ Lenderman opening for them on that tour too, which is awesome. Worth getting there early for.
So been going through this list, took a while because of vacation and other listenings. Anyhow, this is definitely country, but it’s in my rotation, love the album.
Yep so Mars Volta has a new single out which I’m sure has been posted but I’m super excited for the new album
I feel like if they'd never gone on hiatus and this material came out around '14/15 I would've hated it for years, really digging this direction now though so far 3rd single's out next Friday
