I read in some reddit comment that their budget is actually the same, they just uwe it over 10 episodes instead of 12 or 13 In terms of the overall look, it's great. Some of the CGI is corny but not bad
Finished. They do such a good job. Next season is probably my favorite book in the series. It's going to be so awesome.
I forgot to mention this - I was listening to a podcast and they talked about the swearing. Apparently they had a lot of cussing in the dialogue in the first 3 seasons, but censored it for Syfy, but they didnt need to do that for the Canadian channel it was on. So none of it is censored anymore on amazon. So that explains you not really noticing the diferrence, but the Syfy watchers did. But also Avasarala is much more unencumbered in S4 as well.
recently started this series and I'm enjoying it. finished up season one and a couple of episodes in to season 2. do they ever explain how they get thrust propulsion in space?
only 3 eps in but Amazon really stepped up the female attractiveness with some of these new additions.
I liked the Star Helix lady and the reporter One joke among my friends is that none of these women skipped a leg day in their lives to make up for zero g
I liked it, but it seemed like half a season and not a complete one. Don’t feel like it moved very much plot wise.
Liked it but didn't love the storylines this season. Did like the quality improvement from Amazon money. Love Amos. Spoiler Hated the Miller metal spider and then it being attacked by the structure.
The book this season was based on is the slowest in the series. At the time I read it, I was very meh on it. However you later realize it's just table setting for the wild ride to come.
Do we learn more about the ring builders or the other bad guys soon? My only issue about the season was we barely learned anything
I'll put this in spoilers in case people want to remain in the dark about everything. There arent any plot spoilers below Spoiler Quick answer is no, not really. The focus is more about humanity discovering new worlds, a new technology and how that impacts the geopolitical - or solar system-political balance. The why and how about the protomolecule creators and the beings that wiped them out arent as important to the story as they new territory and technology it allows humans to develop, explore and how that shifts balance of power between mars, earth and the belt. There's 1 more book in the 9 book series. They just started to tease we might get more insight to protomolecule and the people that wiped them out in the 8th book. So unless they change something for the show, or move some things up, I dont expect there to be a whole lot of answers on that front.
If youre itching for more Expanse discourse - The Churn Podcast is really good. The host, I find a bit annoying, but she also has a history professor on and the discuss the show really in depth. They talk about the big plot points, but also talk about the more under the radar stuff like the implications of the ring of the geo political relationships, compares it to our history ect. There are also a lot of min episodes interviewing the cast.
Found this show during quarantine. Finished all four seasons in a couple weeks. Love this show. Amos is a boss. I still have Ashford's final scene stuck in my head. So well shot.
hopefully not too weird, wife is enjoying it so far. She never ever watches sci fi with me unless it’s super heroes. We finished episode 4 and she was like well we have to watch the next one. I was thrilled
Cas Anvar (plays Alex) has multiple people on twitter saying he assaulted them. Some were 17. Awesome.
Finishing Season 2 today! the last episode, “the monster and the rocket” was fantastic, looking forward to tonight
Finished the SyFy run last night and that was a legitimately moving end to the story. I’d actually read up on what the protomolecule was building, and I was still floored by the finale. Even through some clunky performances and writing, the show still managed to leave me with a sense of wonder, and I can’t say that about any other show. That’s a real credit to the source material and the attention to detail they used to create this world. Really excited to see how they tell this story on Amazon. I’m 2 episodes in and the budget increase is noticeable lol. It definitely feels like they’re trying to make the leap to “prestige tv,” and it’ll be interesting to see how successful they are (or if it will even matter).
Bummer. It’s a 9 book series and it’s broken up into 3 trilogies (kinda) Book 6 is a good stopping point. I can see why it would be hard to continue the show after that
Started watching this awhile back and stopped midway into season 1. Just started over again. Loved it. Really cool to see how the story went from the first few episodes to the end of season 4.
Spoiler: book spoilers They’d probably just recast or ignore the time jump and just make everything happen 5-10 years later instead of 30.
