Man, she’s a real piece of shit. Basically saying not only was there not a crime committed, but he asked for it.
I mean they really don't have any other argument. It's a shitty argument but it's the only they can really make. They just have to throw it out there to see if the jury buys it.
Let’s go back to February 23, 2020. Bernie Sanders is the front runner for the democratic nomination. The Daytona 500 was the week before, Donald trump was the grand Marshall. Covid was a china problem and an Italian problem. Some guy we’ve never heard of named Dr. Fauci told us to save the masks for medical staff. That’s art, folks. I take back every bad word I’ve said about Kevin Gough.
I wouldn't think so. Still have the State's final closing and then you would have to charge jury, which will take a while. I wouldn't think you would want the jury getting the case at 5 or after and would just rather come back in the morning.
Ahmaud's mom sitting there showing constraint listening to the defense attorneys spewing garbage from their mouths is real strength. That poor woman.
Adjourned for the day. State has 2 hours allotted for second closing and said they intend to take the whole time. Hope it's not overkill.
If it were me, I don’t think that I would be able to sit in while that nonsense is happening so I would probably not be in the courtroom, but kudos to his family for having the strength to do so.
i was actually asking what they said but no and no. You have to clip you toe nails or you’ll get bloody toes and I’ve never heard anyone running without socks because of blisters. That said neither of those things prove he wasn’t a runner. Also if he wasn’t running that day he literally did nothing more than maybe trespass. edit; apparently there a huge running without socks community. Live and learn
I can't imagine this is the case here - but I do know some people that jog without socks because their feet are so callused the socks actually make it worse somehow. No idea - I wear socks.
I edited my post because I looked it up and there appears that running without socks is a thing so whatever she was trying to prove she doesn’t.
Yea some of the die-hards that I know go the "no sock" route - that sounds absolutely miserable to me but to each their own.
Can’t you tell by my reply to Emma that I knew? Originally I didn’t but obviously I knew when Emma asked me those questions.,
When I replied to Wes I didn’t know what he meant because I hadn’t watched the video Drew posted. By the time Emma asked me those questions I had seen the video. I thought my reply to Emma illustrated I knew what the lawyer had said.
just wanted to say i would never wear socks if it weren't for the fact that no socks gives me stinky shoes
I get that and probably agree. Just don’t know what people expect defense attorneys to do. It doesn’t make them “pieces of shit” or “racist fucks” for doing their job. I’d imagine they don’t believe those guys are innocent, but they were hired to do a job.
The fact that they’re defending them doesn’t make them racist pieces of shit, but the way Gough (Roddie’s lawyer) has made his arguments pretty clearly shows he’s a racist piece of shit. I don’t hate the toenails argument. It’s far from dispositive on the issue of whether he was jogging or committing a crime, but I think that’s something a juror could hang onto to question the government’s narrative.
It's why before I go on a jog I always make sure I clip my toenails and give my feet a nice scrub and salt bath. If I get murdered I want it to be clear I was jogging and not just legally walking down a street.
Yep. I had yesterday off and was the first day I was able to listen. It was awful hearing what they were saying. The sad part is I didn't feel like it was a defense but they truly believed what they were saying.
Right. Gough is for sure. I don’t believe that Sheffield or Ponytail are. The wife is either very good at acting the part, or she really believes the hateful shit she spewed in closing. Blonde girl with Gough is turning in notice after this thing wraps.
I would expect a quick verdict. Hopefully because this is an open and shut case, and not because the jury wants to get the hell out of there for thanksgiving.
I think Gough is just an idiot looking for attention and all the things he's done (mistrial requests, preachers complaints) are setting up for an appeal down the line. He gave out his personal address yesterday in his closing and I would almost bet it was in hopes that someone would go throw something thru a window, so he'd have more ammo (in his mind) for a mistrial.
BIO I have been elected twice as chair of the Republican Party of Glynn County, Georgia, and have also served on the district and state committees of the Georgia GOP. I have also served on the Glynn County Board of Elections. I have been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1987. See Martindale-Hubbell, and my website, for my legal biography.
Well, obviously everything he's done was to set up for an appeal. My point is that he could make all of the same arguments in a way that better preserved appeal and weren't clearly racist. His complaint about influential people sitting with the family during the trial isn't baseless, but calling it "a revolving door of black preachers" reveals that he's (1) racist, (2) stupid, and (3) likely a piece of shit.
Or how you shouldn’t run away from a truckload of men with guns chasing you. That makes you the aggressor when you run for your life.
Not that it matters, but was Arbery even the guy doing the break-ins? Or was it a completely different person?
Even if he was, they had no reason to believe he was other than his being black. I think that’s what the case is about, and the prosecution did a much better job of making that their case than the media did reporting it. The “jogger” narrative was so dumb, because it’s super hard to prove and not necessary to prove.
The only thing that Arbery did was at most trespass. He took a leak a couple times out of public view. Cameras show he never took anything.
Thanks maybe I'm misremembering, but wasn't one of the narratives there was a string of burglaries in the development and that's why they stopped him? If so I was curious if it was actually Arbery or somone else. All 3 should be in jail for life
I think he’s asking about the previous theft/break-ins. We don’t know with any certainty either way, but there’s no evidence that he was involved.
I don't have any statistics on this, but, in my experience in years of working on construction jobs, most of the time shit getting stolen from job sites are the actual workers on the job - either after hours or right in broad daylight. Hell, a couple of my clients had to fire / press charges on site supervisors who were stealing shit and using on their "side jobs"
the owner of house he’d take a leak at said nothing was ever stolen from the property. There were videos of him on the property each time he goes takes a leak and leaves. There is no proof he ever did anything illegal all we know is the videos of him that are out show he didn’t do anything wrong.
