He sounds like a tough version of Chad Kroeger...and maybe 1 Foo Fighters songs cracks the top 5 of Nirvana. I've listened to some of their alleged great albums multiple times now and I just don't see it. I do love everlong.
Foo Fighters make lame music but he is just a cool dude who genuinely cares more about making and playing music than making money at the expense of his fans
So you don't like Dave Grohl, but my point is sad? I'm honestly curious as to why so many people love him.
If we didn't have Grohl would music be any different? Did he influence Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Luke Bryan? Maybe he should have...
Thought the Foo Fighters were pretty good in the mid to late 90s. Drummer for Nirvana. Seems like a good career. Swell guy to boot.

I saw that list and asked myself why all those Foo Fighter songs started out with the word "Listen" I'm not proud of what i've done...
Everlong easily holds its own with Nirvana's catalog. I find myself listening to that song a lot more often than anything Nirvana did. Grohl has genuine chops as a musician and he's a catalog of info/history on rock music. His Sound City documentary is one of my favorites. You can see the respect he has for musicians who came before him. It's not strange that people like him for all of these reasons.
The Foo Fighters are like Aerosmith to me. Really good rock n roll music, but nothing that is particularly innovative or influential. The Foos are the type of band that almost everybody likes, but they're almost nobody's favorite band.
Dave's voice isn't great. The lyrics don't have a ton of substance. But the music is really, really good. And that's the point - he's said so. As far as Dave himself, he's a good spokesperson for rock music whenever the media needs one because: no extensive arrest record family man encyclopedic knowledge of music funny does a ton of shit for fans puts on a great show credibility will never be questioned because he was in Nirvana If you don't like Dave's voice I don't see how you listen to Nirvana
yea weird we just had this on our team board. I guess let me preface by saying im a huge Nirvana fan and took offense by you hating on Kurt Cobain but then slurping up Dave Grohl. Grohl is meh to me; not hating on him but just defending Nirvana. Dave Grohl is definitely a talented musician. Not sure he is the greatest creative artist. Foo Fighters had a great start but they did nothing for me over the long run. Nothing innovative, generational. A solid, decent band. Not an influence on rock music. I dont know how Grohl being a cool guy factors into the music or if he really is a cool guy. But 'being a good spokesperson for whenever the media needs one' makes him more dislikeable for me. Its lazy for the award shows to have him every year and he sells out for the facetime. Its not his actual music driving the notereity at this point, its him being a sellout. I guess he could be doing it all for fans, but making more music would seem to be a more effective means to that end. Grohl is whatever. Talented, not a generational voice. Cool guy I guess. But his facetime in the mainstream doesnt jive with the product the foo fighters have given music.
Agree. I've told my Dave grohl story but I'll do it again. A girl I went to college with was obsessed with him. Her mom met daves mom somewhere and she mentioned what a big fan her daughter was. Daves mom called him and told him. He mailed the the girl I knew some ring he wore all tour and a really long letter thanking her for being a fan and offered front row tickets to the next show they had in her home town. Guy is extremely nice to everyone around him and thankful for his fans. We need more Dave Grohls.
You asked why he's beloved and received a specific example. I'm not sure if you're trolling or not here
I think it's clear that the reason Grohl is loved so much is because of his personality/character, not his music. I don't get why you're struggling to grasp that
