Season was awesome. I don’t wanna say it’s better than the original because the fact that most people don’t know the story of the rise of the Mexican cartels automatically makes it more intriguing than the Pablo Escobar story, which most viewers already knew. Spoiler: “Narcos Mexico” The last episode I was sure MAFG was getting arrested and we were gunna see how things fractured and got to where we are now. When he walked in on the meeting like that I was very much all . Only downside is I’m having to avoid reading up on this stuff to not spoil future seasons. It sucks becuase I’ve always been a sucker for a long form El Chapo article or something of that nature but now trying to avoid them. Spoiler: “Real life” For instance I learned in a Rolling Stone article the other day about one of El Chapo’s lieutenants that Rafa Quintero is actually still wanted for the 1985 kidnapping of Camerena and is the longest running fugitive involved with the Mexican Cartels. I assume him getting caught was the writers taking liberties but I’m scared to look up what actually happened to him fearing I’m going to basically read the plot of Narcos Mexico season 2.
I really enjoyed this season despite thinking they miscast Kiki. I thought Pena was terrible and I found myself hating him the entire time. Isabella being put on the sideline all season was fantastic. Holding out hope they unleash them thangs in season 2. Diego Luna was fantastic... His transformation from hesitant gangster with a vision to cold blooded killer that would sell out his close friends was well told. I didn't like how they built him up to be the most honest man in Mexico as he wouldn't sleep with Isabella and never showed or hinted at him cheating on the wife and then in the span of 30 minutes he was cheating on the wife and had another kid on the way. Rafa character arc was also odd... going from owing Miguel his life for saving him from the kidnapping shit to crossing him and thinking he was godfather never really made sense other than Coke is a hell of a drug. If I had to rank this season I would likely put it 3rd with 1,2, 4 and 3 being the order I enjoyed the seasons. I think the biggest issue all season was how the DEA agents would go into these massive raids without bullet proof vest. I could be wrong but I thought the agents in Narcos S1,2 and 3 all wore vest. Maybe the DEA in Mexico had a tight budget. Finally can't imagine living in such a corrupt nation led with some evil motherfuckers in government
Really laughed my balls off at Rafa and Don Neto coked out blasting Boy George. I’ve been there......
Really enjoyed this season. This show is one the more consistently enjoyable series each and every season. It's entertaining, interesting, and you usually learn something. Spoiler I fucking hated Rafa.
about halfway through Spoiler really enjoying it but the scene where where they stop the line for crossing the border for 10 minutes so gallardo can get a landline phone call at the exact time time he crosses the border was one of the most ridiculous scenes i've ever seen. the show is great but some of the ways the try to manufacture unnecessary drama makes me
Just finished. On par with the other seasons. I'd rank them different each time someone asked probably. One of my favorite shows period. Spoiler Minor gripe was how they portrayed Calderoni as an outside the law, standup guy, yet he let Felix go. I understand why he did but not removing 3/4 of his head with that shotgun goes against his actions the whole season.
Illustrated corruption within border patrol agents via communication/phone calls, which was real. Now cell phones fwiw (from what I read/hear).
I know I'm behind on this season but just finished episode 5 where miguel goes to columbia amazing scenes with him and pablo and the cali cartel guys...awesome to see them reprise their roles so far this season has been great. Before the season I googled who the character's were to get a grasp on who they really were and jesus at the details on how they ended up killing Kiki
Halfway thru season 2 or 5, depending on which way you see it. Interesting as they weave between the Americans and the Mexicans.
I usually don’t get too emotionally involved in shows I watch but I knew what was going to happen to Kiki. I was still upset about it when it happened. This show is superb.
Just wrapped the season last night. Netflix is killing it with this show. It’s been excellent every season so far.
Throwing migos in there was strange to say the least when he sprayed Dom on people and ran off during the fight,... wtf
Yeah that shit was funny. Great series. Think I’ll pick back up where I left off on the original series now.
Another great season. My only gripe. Not sure if any of you speak Spanish, but I think the translations at this point are poor. Worse than they were before
i don’t speak Spanish but it’s obvious and it was pretty poor from the get go. Nothing major but some tweaks in how things are said. I tried it in French just to see and the translations are not exactly the same.
personnal opinion and probably not very popular but it is not the same quality, I did not finish it. Most people I know that watched it enjoyed it.
This season was fantastic. Anyone know how much longer they plan on going? Netflix already has the Chapo show like mentioned above so would seem kinda repetitive to follow that path, but have to figure he plays an important role in Narcos next season
Just finished. Loved it, again. Acosta and Amado were my favorites. And Pancho of course, strawberry daiquiri ha!
I may have missed it but did the show ever mention that Tijuana guys were his nephews? Certainly didn't seem like a family relationship. Felix was also moved quickly while in prison because he was still running shit. Yeah, it was great but seemed like they told a complete different story to what was out there on Felix
When you say a different story do you mean entire two seasons or just his final days in charge and prison years?
Just had a bit of an issue with changing small details like that so much, we're gonna be just as entertained if there was a family factor with Miguel-Tijuana and that all his partners didn't turn on him.
Just started watching El Chapo. Has anyone seen that as well? Thoughts? Definitely doesn’t seem to be as well done
not as well done but I think they keep it more factual. I started it but did not enjoy so I stopped the first time, I am currently giving it a second chance and knowing all the characters involved really helps me. Pretty sure I will finish it. It’s a good show
Stormed through s2 finally Amado and Acosta stole the whole thing as far as I'm concerned. Scoot is giving good performances but the Walt character has overstayed its welcome for me.
All caught up. There still hasn’t been a likable cop character in this show since Peña yet I still love it.
my favorite shows are the ones where there is no clear cut good guy, just flawed people doing their best with their values. Kind of like real life
on season 2 of a rewatch, Pablo's mother refusing his stay at home order to go to church reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on
So much more to the Kiki Camerena story. Good doc on Prime. Interviews with people directly involved in the kidnapping, DEA officials and CIA involvement.
