That's sad. His highlights were entertaining and Virginia is where entertaining basketball goes to die.
I bet he'll be eligible if he wants to be. That story didn't paint the picture of someone who wanted to be, though. Reading that made me feel bad for Emani. And I don't really blame the dad, either. The kid is 16 years old and already stuck in this weird place where he can't play at a regular school, but doing what his dad did to counter it seems like an equally bad option in the opposite direction. Even though the story was mainly about the dad, it's hard to see the kid coming out of this in a good mental state of mind when he's in the league.
He really needs to be coached in a structured program. This Ypsi prep experience is likely not good for his long term dev
the kids family created his own prep school and he has more hoopla around him than any prospect since lebron and you think the ncaa is just going rubber stamp him without investigating?
The NCAA already signed off on the diplomas they're going to get (as it said in the article). They can investigate whatever they want. Doesn't mean something has to be there. Especially since NLI stuff should be in place in a few years, and it doesn't seem like MSU is the one giving him anything.
I don’t think the NCAA will do anything that impedes Emoni from participating in NCAA games given the new G League alternative
Efton Reid announcing tomorrow. In the history of Twitter, “Efton Reid” and “Florida State” had been mentioned together just four times before two hours ago. Now picks are coming in for him to commit to them. This would be some legendary bagman work if it comes to fruition.
Update: FSU fans are now on Twitter pretending to be fans of other teams. This guy used to be 2zNoles. Edit. He deleted it:
What's Gonzaga's secret sauce? They've been a solid program for years and now all the sudden are getting multiple 5*
They're one of the very few west coast programs that actually gives a shit about their basketball program?
Tad Boyle has done the previously thought of as impossible task of landing a Top 10 class on the nation. All hail Tad!
I've read he plays lazy at times. This kid was never going to college though and it was painfully obvious.
Count me as the delusional. With the possibility of NIL and him not being eligible for the G League it made sense to do a year in college and have Zion like hype around him. But the whole Ypsi thing was weird and writing was on the wall for this one since the fall. I am guessing overtime.
Unless the G League changes their rule he isn’t eligible for it. Too young. I would bet on Overtime and he says all options are on the table to hype up a signing.
HAve you forgotten about the G League Ignite? It was literally created to reel in guys like him after they finish HS.
Do they have a different age limit? I thought the rule for any G League was 18 by a certain date. He is still 17 and isn’t turning 18 until the fall IIRC. Thus not eligible to play for the Ignite.
