Had a chance at a decent largemouth but he popped out of his hiding spot like 2 feet from the bank and I shit myself and missed him
This wind is relentless. Every single weekend is blown out. The beach has been too windy and stirred up alll month. Maybe next weekend I can get out and try and get a tarpon on the beach
This has been the worst weather year Ive seen on the gulf coast. We've had maybe a couple of decent days since February and the rest have been damn near small craft advisories.
weather has been shit in the southeast too. between the constant rain and TVA and Duke Energy just saying fuck it to the fish and anglers, i've missed the best time of year for smallmouth and trout on my favorite waters.
/lookatme Cutie rolled her window down and complimented "nice mustache" as I crossed the street last weekend. Spoiler she was probably lying . Y'all have seen how ugly I am. Doesn't matter. Got big head anyways.
Funny enough, despite Yellowstone Cutties being the native fish around here, it's my first. So many bows and one really good brown. Heading up to a small creek that's got a good reputation for Brookies this weekend. That'll be my last of the four major species around here. Really hope it pays off, but if not, it's my 2021 goal anyway. My fishing partner caught a pregnant beauty up there last summer. Edit to add since y'all are the only people besides my fishing buddy that might care, bought a 4wt rod for this Brookie hunt and am loving the fight you get off it.
4 wt is my main rod. It's been fine with the 20" browns I've caught around here. Will be taking that and a 6 wt when I go to Montana.
Went to the Eastatoe this morning. Caught over 25, pretty much all SNITs though. Did find a few brooks in there. Spoiler They stock this area with a pipe that runs down the hill
both of my trout rods are 4wt. have used the 4wt for bass too. a lot of the newer 4wt rods are basically 5's anyways, unless they're uppermiddle to high end. TFO, Fenwick, Redington, and Echo could be sized up.
To Ennis. My dad's been going yearly for over 20 years. I've been to Ennis once and we did a horse back trip into the northwest wilderness there once. Will be doing a few float trips and going to some of the other rivers in Yellowstone and nearby Ennis like the Ruby.
Real nice. Got two good trips on the Madison in last season, but sucked so much I only caught one fish. Looking forward to some weekends up there this time around.
We plan on doing the Madison and another river which depends on what the guide recommends is fishing well. We're talking about doing a third. I've been considering whether I want to try out a spring creek, but don't really want to dole out more money just to be able to fish.
My dad and mom just got back from Wyoming after doing several float trips. Caught some nice fish, but not many unfortunately (20 between them on 3 floats).
Nice. Meeting a buddy who lives down in Fort Collins in Alcova next month. Just going to be wading, but grabbed a guide day one since neither of us have fished the area before.
Going fishing for 5 days in SD in June with a buddy. It’s something we started doing years ago and we fish like fucking lunatics and it’s just the best trip.
my fish may get upstaged by mickey, but i will NOT let my mustache get upstaged itt. went to the horsepasture river. didnt bring my net and used barbless flies. so i only got pics of one rainbow. billdozer this isnt far from you, some nice rainbows hold over under the falls
Looks nice. I'd like to fish some in NC, but that fishing license is pricey for the little time I'd get to. Especially since I have a lifetime license in SC and fishing is then free for me.
it was $45 last year. not sure if that was due to covid, but they dropped the trout fee. either way it costs more that free. not sure if i’ll get it this year, since i’m getting GA soon.
Annihilated 36 brookies and wild rainbows with my wife and fishing buddy today. Spoiler beautiful little western creek and it’s at the foot of a great mountain we climbed last July. Perfect day.
Look at this handsome sum bitch. Going to hit up Avery Creek tomorrow, thoughts and prayers appreciated.
should a little high from the rain. which i like for small streams. i’ve never ventured up that creek.
Welp. This tarpon season is a bust so far for me. I don't know anyone that's been able to fish the beach so far. Feel bad for guides I haven't even taken my 12wt out of the tube this year
I’m off next week and the winds don’t get below 15. Fuck this. my custom rod is being built currently. Going with and orange, green, yellow look bc why not. going to something like this on the exposed handle and some nice thread work on the main shaft
Nice ones. I've only been to the Tuckaseegee one time with my dad about 25 years ago. Am I remembering right that it's a big wide river that runs through a lot of fields?
its a tailwater, very wide in spots and some places are super deep. if the east dam isn’t generating you can wade in a lot of areas.
