I got Matt Foley code. Messed up the order by not adding the shoes, so the code wouldn’t work. Have to reorder once I can get mine cancelled, or get support to add the shoes and code for me.
Peloton re-ordered. Ended up getting a promotion to use because my wife is a nurse, but also was able to use your referral, even though it didn't give me a discount. Should be delivered Monday, then I can join the club!
What was the referral for being a nurse? They just knock some off the price? My wife is a nurse and I also work in healthcare.
we’re not a club. It is a lifestyle. It’s a way of being. It’s a place of enlightenment that others don’t understand. But we aren’t a cult I repeat not a cult.
$200 off accessories. Think it's only the Bike+ Essentials you get. Shoes, weights, workout mat. Don't think you get a discount on the bike.
huh? Are you familiar with Strava? Is a fitness app that tracks your mileage (runs, swimming and cycling) and workouts. You can connect to your peloton account.
Do you guys use heart-rate monitors, or is the Apple watch good enough? any must have accessories, outside of something sold directly from their store?
Apple Watch should be fine. I use the Wahoo Ticker which has been excellent. A few things I use on every ride: Lots of towels (Amazon Basics are nice) A fan or two Bluetooth headphones Water bottles (I use the Camelback Podium Chill) Cycling socks are nice, but not a necessity (I use DeFeet) Skip the padded shorts. You’re going to be sore from the saddle for your first few rides, but your body will adapt. And pay close attention to bike fit. Basically any info you could possibly need can be found on the Peloton Wiki on Reddit. Enjoy.
I forgot who mentioned it originally itt think it was Duck Smoker or Boo MFer! but the screen pivot is a must. So much better for floor exercises. I admit I was wrong.
Not me. I usually just use my phone. If I wanted to, I could see my bike screen without moving it though.
I used my iPad but it’s so old the battery drains after about an hour to 2. This is a game changer for me.
I’m pretty stoked for Monday. What does one do for their first ride? Our shoes, weights, and mat came in today.
Depends on your fitness level and cycling experience. I’d to a beginners ride or low impact one. If you feel like you’re in good enough shape try a music based one.
The first few weeks are pretty easy, but I would suggest the beginner program, as someone in this thread recommended to me.
Another indication that Peloton will be adding boxing soon. Not something I’m into personally, but some of y’all might be interested. https://www.pelobuddy.com/rumor-new-peloton-coach-rad-lopez-former-boxing-instructor/
So is it just shadow boxing classes since I doubt many people have heavy or speed bags set up at home?
Don't overthink it, start with beginners rides. Then advanced beginners then try out different instructors to find what you like. Avoid Jess King at all costs.
Not sure. From Peloton’s perspective, they probably figured it’s another exercise modality we can add at basically zero cost that a small minority of people will like.
THEBLUERAIDER and ButchCassidy a few things I would have known or been told when I hit the bike. First and foremost peloton is obviously about the equipment (thread or bike) so don’t worry that you won’t use your bike enough. My original thought was I have to use this everyday for multiple rides a day to justify the price. But, it’s so much better if you take advantage of the whole thing. Download the app take advantage of everything strength, yoga, meditation out door runs etc. Get a good yoga mat to do off the bike things. Buy a decent massage gun. They are game changers for recovery. Don’t skip the stretches. Take as many different instructors as you can to find out who you like.
My beginner tips: -Start with beginner classes, then advanced beginner, then regular classes. There is no downside to starting easy, but there is for starting too hard. - Rotate through instructors even if you like the first one two. - Find how many days a week you want/can ride and plan around that so there is variety. - Do 5 minute warm ups and post ride stretches. - Your ass will be extremely sore for like the first week or two. It’s completely normal. You do not need special biking shorts or a new seat.
I’m about a month in and have done 23 or 24 rides. Finding my groove. I haven’t done any strength classes because I have a weightlifting plan if my own that I follow and I’m running again, so finding the time to fit it all in is tough sometimes. I do need to take advantage of the yoga and stretching classes and need to do more of the pre and post ride stuff. I like the idea of them adding boxing too. That would be cool.
Would imagine shadow given they already do a ton in strength classes right now anyways. Kendall, Bradley, Selena, etc. Kendall and Bradley specifically have boxing backgrounds. If successful could see them putting out a fight camp type system.
Two other things take advantage of the programs and stacking and join as many challenges as you can. They will help save time and motivate you when you don’t feel like working out.
