Yikes. Baldwin is a co-producer on the film and plays infamous outlaw Rust, whose 13-year-old grandson is convicted of an accidental murder. There is a method actor joke to be made here but I’m not going to do it.
Brandon Lee died where a blank misfired and basically became a projectile bullet. I'm wondering if this isn't something similar.
I’m saying he might be able to give us an idea of how something like this could happen, and he totally did it
if biden didn’t steal the election baldwin would still be doing his tired trump impression on snl instead of filming movies
It never crossed my mind that the guns in movies were even close to real and capable of firing projectiles, especially after what happened to Bruce Lee. For someone who has no firearm knowledge, how can a blank misfire? What exactly is a blank round? Is there a round in there that's just not supposed to fire? I'd have thought it was just some powder for flash and noise
The gun isn't supposed to be loaded. The director and camera man are filming a shot of Alec shooting directly into the camera... You've seen this scene in every movie involving people shooting guns at each other.
Very curious to see if this ends Baldwin's life in the public eye. He's a rich, white man. Odds are he finds a way back into the entertainment business down the road. Keep in mind that Caitlyn Jenner killed someone on the road and still ran for governor.
He could always take the heat off himself by subtly reminding everyone that his wife is a weirdo who speaks with a fake Spanish accent for some reason. That seems to rile people up
The gun was likely used prior for other scenes. It was incorrectly cleared by props and the armorer. Baldwin points at the camera and shoots, unaware actual rounds (not necessarily "live") are being fired. When the dust clears those two were hit.
Alec Bladwin is for sure an asshole. But this is more about the lax safety issues that lead to that woman getting unnecessarily killed and another person shot, than dogging out Alec Baldwin.
Unreal that there’s even a chance that a prop gun can actually shoot a projectile powerful enough to kill.
this is 10000% on the props master and the armorer. both people should be checking and clearing any weapons on a set before they ever touch an actor's hand.
I listen to a podcast that is hosted by a guy from the Tomorrow War, and he said in their weapons training prior to filming they were explicitly told not to aim the prop weapons at anyone, especially at any close distance, because the blanks can still severely injure or kill someone.
Blanks are rounds that have no bullet and instead have material covering the business end so that the powder stays contained.
I would almost be willing to bet what happened here was what happened to Brandon Lee on The Crow 1) Gun is fired in a previous scene with dummy rounds (inert rounds that look real), improperly constructed dummy rounds is then pushed into the chamber essentially becoming a potential projectile 2) Gun is pointed at camera for POV shot and meant to be fired with blanks (live rounds with no bullet) but since the chamber was obstructed the blanks created a bullet and that's what hit these people, perhaps they were standing together it's either something like that or someone put real goddamn rounds into the gun by mistake and Baldwin simply let 'er rip not knowing any better. but still, since Lee died this was something they basically hammer into the brains of anyone who works with weapons on a set, there are multiple layers of checks that are supposed to happen between multiple people to ensure this very thing doesn't repeat itself.
Put me down for conspiracy about aggrieved film industry employee angry that they didn’t strike and doing something reckless for revenge.
the other thing I'm reading is this was a low-budget film which means they probably weren't hiring the best and brightest and that's when corners get cut and people get hurt and, unfortunately in this case, killed.
