https://insight.jci.org/articles/view/156372 Fatality may be linked to having previous infection of other endemic coronaviruses (not covid), if im reading the abstract right. That is, previous typical coronavirus infections may make covid infections much worse. The supplemental data has a bunch of graphs in figure 6 which associate antibody response to other coronavirus proteins and patient outcome which is pretty interesting, but aside from a couple of them age still seems like the main player?
The boogeyman has got me and the wife in addition to my daughter. My 3 year old is holding on strong. It's going to be an adventure keeping them separate and my wife and I masked indoors for 10 days
COVID finally got me. Symptoms hit me fast and like a brick wall. That first night was brutal. Feeling much better now a few days in. Paxlovid seems to have helped as well.
My boss came in on tuesday with "a cold". she tested positive same day. I just tested positive yesterday. no real symptoms besides the same stuffy nose I've had for months. Got a teledoc to give me the paxlovid script just in case though.
Is it safe to assume that negative rapid tests are a safe way to determine when it's safe to allow my isolating kids be in the same room? The 5 or even 10 day method seems a little less definitive
Yeah fuck desantis and his “duhhhh providers can always order themselves” This is from our pediatrician
Someone with better creds should verify but I think the answer is yes. It is supposed to be a pretty good indicator of whether you’re shedding live virus iirc. It’s what we did when my wife got sick and no one else (including two under 5 kids) got it.
looks like cvs, walgreens, & walmart pharmacy sites have yet to update for the new guidelines maybe you can just lie about the birth date on the site just so you can make the appt and when you get there say it was just authorized
Guess you better prepare to bitchslap your in-laws when they inevitably bring up "you've poisoned him!" as you said they could see him again once he's fully vaccinated, right?
Holy fucking shit I swear on me mum my MIL said this not 10 minutes ago. Not about not wanting to be around him but how he will be able to give people covid for about 10 days after shot due to shedding.
Also, we cancelled out appt today as the office will be getting Pfizer in next week and it has been showing slightly better results unless I am mistaken. Waited 23 months, what is another week.
I told her that is the equivalent of me drinking a Dr Pepper and someone else taking a sip of it and it is Sprite.
Not the case. Pfizer requires 3 doses to be at equivalent of Moderna 2 doses. Unknown what 3rd dose of moderna will provide but we’lll know soon.
Bc Moderna goes w higher doses . think Pfizer is doing it right to stagger the doses which can lower side effects
The data didn’t show a meaningful difference in side effects. That was the hope, but I don’t think it bore out.
i blame my breakthrough infection on going for pfizer for my booster instead of sticking with the moderna mafia.
What's that now? We're all pretty good. My 11 month developed croup, which sounded terrible and resulted in a few sleepless nights. My 3 year old popped today but has only had a cough so far.
I assume everyone is getting their kids under 5 vaccinated? I plan on getting my 2 year old his at his 2 yr appointment.
you're good. CVS says 2 and under but their site still says 5+ at the moment. I just had no idea why those other places were 3+
lol...going to sams and Walgreens sites says for under 3 to go to a pediatrician and meanwhile ours clearly said they can't get them. good effort Florida.
I think between age of 2-3 you should go to pediatrician. Depending on size of kid, takes some skill and experience to do a proper intramuscular injection.
I had my third shot booster in February and have a trip to Spain booked in two weeks. A tad nervous about upticks of sub variants in Europe
CVS by us has Pfizer(!) although our pediatrician is still waiting. Is it really still just splitting hairs between Pfizer and Moderna or is there a consensus for younger kids? Obviously between Pfizer and nothing the choice is easy but was curious.
it’s worth waiting a week for Moderna because your kids will still be fully vaccinated way before they would be getting a shot of Pfizer today imo https://www.statnews.com/2022/06/20...nd-moderna-covid-vaccines-for-young-children/
cool. I just dont know if/who will carry it for a 2 year old. CVS isn't carrying Moderna by me for any age. There is one that is like 30 miles away but most don't.
Had our 1 year appointment today and pediatrician said they were having problems staffing up to give them out but they’d probably be calling in a few weeks. A bit annoying but I think four shots was plenty for one day…
Welp, covid waited until June 2022 to hit my house. Child#2 tested positive this morning. Little bit of a dry cough, no other symptoms. Me/gf/child#1 negative.
