I think for Emily specifically, it’s more about distancing herself from Caleb in the eyes of everyone else. (Even tho they’re still close Allie’s) If she voted for J , it would have been obviously her. Or at least that’s mostly likely what the group would have thought. Risking all that for 1/6 chance Caleb gets a miracle is bad strategy. She played it well imo.
If she votes for anyone other than Kaleb then she is making a statement that she won't play ball, and it paints an even bigger target on her and Caleb if it works. I also think that her and Caleb were the best players on the losing team, and none of the others is a significant threat. Maybe Dee? Or the Boston guy? He seems to want to work with Caleb or at least did in the past. If you're able to take out a Bruce or the tall nerdy guy then maybe....mayyyyyybe it's worth a shot, but I don't think any of the others was worth a vote. I also think her voting Caleb bought her enough confidence to not get voted out on the 2nd vote.
yup. Being on the right side of the vote matters at the end because its a sign that you were involved in what was going on and not completely clueless what was going to happen at tribal.
One thing thats bothered me is how the merge immunity is determined. I don't like that random chance can put a team at a massive disadvantage such as we saw on Wednesday with a challenge that is very dependent on brute strength for the first half and one team having 4 big dudes while the other has 2 big guys. If you want to run that challenge, fine, but try to divide teams equally whether it's by weight or equally split gender or what idk what the answer is aside from having it be an individual challenge and the first 6 done get immunity or something. It's not a huge gripe, and its partially fueled by my liking of Caleb this season and seeing him get the short end of the stick.
One small tweak to your suggestions. Random draw for the first player on each of the team, then they pick the next teammate. The next pick is then made by the last person that was picked on that team. This allows for the teams to be equally balanced, but ensures that no one person is targeted for picking the entire team.
Telling her about Bruce’s idol backfired but still makes no sense that she didn’t vote with them because of it
I think her vote does make sense. She just found out she's at the bottom of her alliance. Going against it gives her a chance to prove herself to another one and work as as a swingman. It's a bit riskier but also gives her a higher ceiling. But more than anything - these random groups are bad. They should have merged to two tribes from three. Then have an actual merge.
I agree with the merge aspect. I get that the new survivor is faster paced but random chance all the time is tough.
She’s so bad, just nuked any chance of her getting off the bottom of her alliance. She goes home next two weeks imo.
Although I could see people trying to take her to the end, because she’s so unlikable that no one will vote for her to win.
Austin chomping down on that giant fish eyeball thin slurping up the iris like it was spaghetti. Was pretty fucking nasty.
I hate seeing Kelly go, I liked her, but she called it about Bruce being her anchor. Bruce’s reunion show is what I can’t wait for. If he thinks he was awful, or it it’s really him.
One of the things I like the most about survivor is how they all appreciate the game and dont throw fits over it like in other shows. I like how they dont get mad. But I dont blame her one bit. Plus she wasnt being an asshole about it. Just truly shocked. Great great blindside
Kellie’s mistake was not listening to herself talking about Bruce. She could have maneuvered a lot better earlier in the season. Bruce is such a bad player. Everything being black and white confirms his level of play. I’m happy for Jake because he’s fun and he’s willing to risk. This leaves him vulnerable though too.
Drew called it, Jake/Bruce can be carried to the end bc they are both viewed as bad players. Katarah is in that club as well. So really the other 6 are all fighting each other. Austin is kinda the wild card, I think how he goes will decide if it’s a Dee/Julie winner or Drew/Emily. Austin could win too
I think Drew is really smart, and could out talk Austin in a final tribal, but Austin is just super likable. It’s JT and Stephen all over again, Drew might be smart enough to not let it happen though.
I think they’ve figured out the “twists” don’t have to be so huge to be enjoyable. Things like Jeff stabbing the rice bag with an huge knife are fucking awesome.
Just binge watched the latest 3 episodes, and those were 3 awesome tribals. Awesome season Someone being mad/shocked is so much more enjoyable to me than them congratulating everyone
I feel like Julie is going to try and flip and then get screwed because Emily votes with Drew/Austin/Dee
Emily is going to have to decide if she wants to continue to be bottom in the alliance with Belo or make a move. Her problem is she has no rapport Katurah or Bruce and both of them are really bad players. Emily needs to work Jake and Julie and get Jake to bring Bruce in. They could get intel from Belo via Emily on the vote and split it while playing their idol and hope to blindside Belo.
Got back into Survivor when I got paramount+ a few months back (I hadn't watched since I was a kid with my parents). I picked things up with the latest all-star season and just caught up to the most recent episode. This season has some of the laziest gameplay I've ever seen from folks. There is a complete lack of thinking two or three steps ahead by people who are clearly on the bottom but comfortable voting with the majority. Jake certainly isn't the best player to ever play this game. But at least he's breathed some life into an otherwise dull season. Austin- Pretty chill, dude. I would like him more if he wasn't teaming up with Drew. He's flying under the radar and making some power moves. Dee- Probably has the best resume currently to win the game, in my opinion. She's the only person calling out names and getting those people out of the game (Kendra) Emily- I'm pretty blown away that she lasted this long. I thought her bluntness would be a casualty for her early on. She's not very good at challenges and has zero power moves thus far in the game. However, I think something clicked in her: Austin and Drew have zero plans to keep her over Julie, especially Dee. Julie- Great in challenges. But her social game is doing what the other three of Reba tell her to do. Bruce- His social game reminds me of Rocksroy in season 42. His logic for not liking Kaleb was dumb, and not talking to Reba tribe mates while voting with the majority was a dull plan. Katurah- Outside of Drew, I can't stand her the most. Making your entire character arc about not liking Bruce is just stupid. On top of that, feeding information to the Reba originals makes no sense because they have zero plans of breaking. Drew- I immediately found his frat boy/nerdy shtick annoying. He has much influence while not having any skins on the wall. Jake- Honestly, I am surprised they are keeping him in the game because of his clear medical condition. A likable guy that I highly doubt makes it into the final 4.
I said it earlier but having to be on the right side of the vote has scared people to make some moves in my opinion in the fear of being wrong.
The age old adage is true. Boring early game leads to great end game, but exciting early game leads to boring endgame. Team Hialeah Dee.
