There was a similarly good article on the Athletic this week echoing many of the same points that I can post if anyone gives a shit.

it’s wild that almost everyone in football - writers, pundits, coaches, former players, (reasonable) fans etc - agrees that there’s a clear and logical way out of this mess, one that closely aligns with the club ethos, but for whatever reason the powers that be simply refuse to accept that reality

 

This has been needed since 2021, but alas here we are.

It’s almost like the club should be trusting the youth development and give more kids chances vs. spending hundreds of millions on outside talent. The success rate on high $ transfers has to be among the lowest of all the big clubs. Other than Frenkie I can’t even recall an impactful high $ transfer since Neymar left.
