This is not surprising. We overachieved this season, don’t prioritize basketball so aren’t gonna pay a lot for a coach, and Johnny has Mikey Williams and whatever friends he brings, the #1 center in 2025 that may reclassify, a high 4 star signee, and in the mix for some big time players in HS.
well if Gus ends up in another Boca Bowl we aren’t prioritizing football either. our AD seems to be about facility fundraising and nothing else
Apparently he only had this upcoming season left on his contract. He only makes 1.7mil which is near the bottom of the conference. To hire a new coach, you're looking at mid 2's-3mil to start out. WVU and Tech started their coaches at 2.8 and 2.9 with annual increases. Maybe UCF didn't want to pay that?
It is wild how bad they've been since firing him I can only assume Becker at Vermont has told them he's not interested, because he seems like a no brainer
Louisville is apparently going to hire Pat Kelsey which seems completely fine to me but the Louisville 247 board is having an all time meltdown.
Grew up like 90 min from Louisville too so definitely knows the area. I actually was surprised he took Charleston a couple of years ago after expecting him to jump from Wofford to a bigger job.
Looking forward to Golden crushing it in the portal again Maybe he can tutor Woodson on how to find some good guards
Excited about this for Pacific. They had a ton of issues and he’s going to be flipping the entire roster
If Golding does not get UTEP to the NCAA or NIT next year, he will be gone. Had a chance of getting canned this off-season, but making the conference tournament final gave him some life
Forgot that Yale needed a complete meltdown from Brown to even make the tournament Them they go and beat Auburn. Pretty cool
In a similar vein, FDU doesn't get in to the tournament last season and get the chance to beat Purdue if the NCAA didn't have the 4-year transitional period for schools moving up from D2 to D1. Merrimack beat FDU in the title game, but wasn't eligible for the tournament.
bertwing - is there a chance Muss goes to USC? There’s a KU guy that’s tapped in decently well in the state that is alluding to Tang to Arkansas as a possibility
The Muss situation is weird. He doesn’t have an agent right now and he’s due for a raise and extension from us… and there was rumors he had some discussions with DePaul, SMU, Louisville… and now people expect he will be tied to the USC opening because he’s a west coast guy and has a relationship with Lebron so coaching Bronny would be an incentive. I just don’t know what he will do tbh, but know he’s been very active in the portal and just had one visit completed and supposed to have 3 more in the next week before next Thursdays dead period. So he’s not acting like a guy looking for a job elsewhere. I have also heard the Tang rumors to Ark if Muss leaves, supposedly it’s a destination he really wants if it opens up.
According to Scheer the Arizona staff has had no contact with him. So you can narrow down the list some.
