Eh. One of the things I enjoy about college fb is that teams in a clock situation can stretch the clock a long way if they're prepared and execute.
Agree, not sure college qbs on the whole can run NFL style two minute drills. Seems like there are tons of better ways to address the issue.
Charlie Baker: "How do we make games shorter? Shorten the quarters? Running clock? No clock stoppage after 1st downs?" Guy in the back: "How about less commercials?" Baker: "Someone get that fucking guy out of here"
Especially cause they don't get communication in their helmet like the NFL. They do need to find ways to speed up the games, though. The biggest improvement would be way less commercials, but we know that'll never happen unless they can get somebody to sponsor the whole quarter, or something.
I'll happily ignore and ff many commercials if the players get meaningfully paid. And for the first time, it feels like we're on that path.
Wouldn't that result in more plays and thus, more stoppages? Am I missing something? Do I have COVID brain?
I'd be happy to accept overlays on the field, split screen advertising during live action, etc. Plenty of other ways to boost or maintain ad revenue number of and reduce number of or shorten TV timeouts.
Bro, this is 2023. You expected me to actually click the link and read an article before publicly making a knee jerk reaction?
They were the #4 team in the division last year. They're going to be picked to finish 4th this year. And it seems like they should be around the same quality they were last year. Not sure why any of these things would upset you.
The 25 second play clock was handled differently, though. The clock didn’t start until the ball was set and the ref blew the whistle. In the day of hurry up offenses nobody is going to want that
Penn state doesn’t use tickets or anything so I think that’s just an estimate based on how full the stands are
Ohio State is not back up to pre-Covid numbers, but when the game is on a non-Easter weekend and weather is nice, being in a city with 2 million plus metro helps attendance. We did 99,391 in 2015 and 101,189 in 2016.
Oh yeah well it was terrible weather here and we probably had 3,000 fans to watch us go through some drills and watch Brian Ferentz walk around with his greased back hair and think how do I score 18 points a game cause the defense will get me 7. Fuck this sucks waiting till we can clean house.
I wouldn’t waste my time watching Michigan football either, at least not unless the AD gave me free tickets for buying a coke or something.
I took a peek at the UM freeboard about a month ago…yikes. It’s like a barren wasteland beyond Thunderdome
I’ve been gone since 2011 or 2012, joined Scout back then and eventually quit that too in like 2013 or early 2014. I was surprised the old screen name still had an account. I also had an old name, Mt.Everest1997. That was a great Michigan fake account name.
I kind of like what Locksley is doing there. Runs a decent offense, has solid African-American assistants running both coordinator positions. Good recipe to recruit NJ-PA-MD-VA, and has Maryland playing well, historically speaking. I don’t think Maryland has illusions about competing as a top-10 every year. They want to hit a 9-3 or 10-2 once while catching Penn State, Michigan or OSU in a peak year that hits 9-3 or 10-2.
