You have to be good enough in a spread scheme to throw for big numbers, but not good enough to leave early for the NFL, and probably make enough mistakes to so that your mediocre team is regularly playing from behind. It's a tough needle to thread.
They also seem to play Michigan and/or Ohio State tough frequently before losing to Northwestern or Illinois or someone shitty a week later.
Maryland and Locksley aren’t really doing that bad considering it’s Maryland. They’ve had some decent non con wins and he consistently gets them to bowl games. Can’t really ask for much more at Maryland. I think the expanded big ten and removal of divisions helps them quite a bit.
It's kind of Kentucky-like, except Kentucky under Stoops has played in the shitty SEC division while Maryland has been stuck in the good B1G division so they can't have that random 10-win season Stoops has had twice.
In his entire UK career, he has 2 wins against SEC teams who finish the season with a winning conference record. He definitely has staked his career on beating bad noncon teams and capitalizing on a weak SEC East.

If we start doing some 9:00 Eastern 8:00 Central starts, that’s not too bad. There are a lot of 7:30 or 8:00 Eastern games that are out of control by 9:00 or 9:30, so having a staggered start on NBC/FOX/CBS might work well.
I don't understand some of the OSU media, alums and fans who have these loud takes about the game like it's some sort of recipe that needs specific ingredients in order to win. It's a football game. There's not much else to "get" about it.
