Reporting in, unlike our football team we will be elite on offense, but we will also be terrible on defense. Looking forward to another .500 year and first round loss in all end of season tournaments.
I’m with you Lady Bucks gonna be really good Holtmann’s social media is all him working out and getting fit, I don’t like it in regards to our season
We needed an extra ticket for tonight’s game because my youngest turned 3 and can no longer get in free. I bought it off Seat Geek for $1. It wasn’t even upper deck. Seriously, $1 for lower deck season opener.
buddy you don't even know what suck is I assume we'll limp our way through the season at 13 or 14 concluding with the inevitable firing of the HC, fun
What is Minnesota’s problem when it comes to building a program? You guys have a large metropolitan area to recruit from, lack of facilities, just bad coaching hires?
- can't get top recruits to stay home, especially if they're from the Twin Cities - NIL seems very weak on the basketball side, that's just a guess though. We did lose a 5-star to Louisville due to NIL. - Pitino wasn't great but he wasn't complete shit like Ben Johnson has been
I would say Tubby and Pitino had us as mostly a bubble team and sometimes better. They both had issues building depth and multiple really promising seasons fell apart when adversity hit (injuries, ineligibility for grades, sexual assault allegations against Mbakwe (eventually not guilty) and Reggie Lynch (expelled), Royce Lewis suspended for a whole season while being investigated for stealing a computer (never charged…transferred to ISU), etc). Tubby was a very lazy recruiter that didn’t have back up options if he missed on plan A. Pitino relied almost entirely on his assistants to recruit and that was up and down with a great class followed by a terrible one when assistant’s left or there was a cloud around the program with Lynch’s sexual assault and 2-3 injured starters. Ben Johnson was Pitino’s top recruiter (Coffey, Oturo, etc) before he left for a promotion at Xavier. When he came back as head coach he seemed to want to clean house on culture so as I recall we only retained Isaiah Ihnen (who missed each of the last 2 years with ACL tears).l ans everybody else transferred. He tried to build primarily through HS recruiting (and mostly stop gap transfers) which is a slow process.
What was happening across the conference tonight? #Rutgers Scarlet Knights losing to Princeton And then #Ohio State Buckeyes and #Northwestern Wildcats embarrasingly close. #Michigan State Spartans headed to OT at home against James Madison.
Not that anyone cares but the 2 guys supposed to lead us(Thornton and Gayle) were a disaster for first 30 minutes I don’t have much optimism, maybe a 9-11 seed but Holtmann is fit!
We will know more after we play Mizzou on Thursday but I’m cautiously optimistic that we may have progressed to being a top 100 RPI team. It’s only 2 games against KenPom 250+ teams but we’ve scored 80 and 102 so far. The offense is clearly better than last year when we were scoring high 50s to 75 against comparable teams.
We’re gonna take this year off and wait for the number 2 prospect in the country, who just signed with us, to show up. Thanks for understanding.
That was horrendous basketball down the stretch by Minnesota Ben Johnson kept putting the ball in Christie's hands and it was a disaster
