Anyone read the Jets piece in the athletic yet? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6005172/2024/12/19/woody-johnson-jets-madden-sons/ From the recap lol This piece focuses on owner Woody Johnson, who has been quite … hands-on. What I did not expect to learn is the influence of his teen sons, Brick and Jack, whose love for the Madden franchise seems to influence the owner of this NFL team. No, seriously, our reporting revealed that the Jets owner nixed a trade for Jerry Jeudy last offseason because the receiver’s EA Sports rating was too low. It’s not the only time video game ratings have factored into their personnel decisions, either.
The real GM of the Jets.. “So we’re willing to give you three platinums and one legendary pack for Davante.”
They're the 4th generation of a generational fortune. The chances they wouldn't be massive pieces of shit had to be under 2%.
A kid from that family did this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_Rich_(2003_film) Not a bad doc for a twentysomething
doing research about whether I want to start Goff in fantasy this week and just noticed that the Lions have only played one game outdoors so far this season. pretty crazy. they do have back-to-back outdoors now against the Bears and Niners.
The sports media finally showing a minuscule of boldness to illustrate how stupid NFL owners are has become one of my favorite surprise developments
when I first read about this I thought it was a misprint and it was about his grandkids. 77 year old billionaire was never going to have well-adjusted teenagers.
I have no clue what the Lions' offense looks like without Montgomery in terms of run/pass split. Not sure they want to ask Gibbs to take on 25 carries every game. In the past, they have tried to avoid asking Goff to do a ton in outdoor cold weather situations. And the Bears have played him better than the other teams in the division the last couple years, although maybe that changes without Eberflus. He threw 5 INTs against them last year and the Lions got stuck in the second half a few weeks ago that almost led to them blowing that game.
Reading this piece about Woody made me think of the book Empire of Pain, about the Sacklers and the opioid crisis. The Johnson and Johnson role in the whole thing is fucking gross
Burrow (crushed by a D lineman for the fifth time in a game): ow Orlando Brown Junior: I will protect you with this sword as the great and powerful ancient samurai did
dying at the "most ancient form of respect." I know Burrow is loaded and you have to gift your offensive line stuff, but you know he really didn't want to give this unit anything.
Watches first season of shogun everyone knows being gifted a kitana sword is the greatest sign of respect to be bestowed
Saints have been pretty bad for a few years, but I think we're about to enter some daaaark times. This has to be a bottom-three roster in the league.
Raiders roster is actually pretty ok. They just have no QB and a bad coach. Browns mostly have a QB problem. The rest though. Woof. Titans Saints Giants Raiders Browns
