Ospreay/Pac are going to put on what I'd say normally be a MOTY contender, I'd have that open All Out.
I noticed it before but didn’t put much thought into it, but now realizing there’s always been a meaning behind it
I can't wait for them to put this all behind them, hug it out, and team up to win the Trios title with Nick Wayne
Yes let me explain why it’s cool a white man burned down a black guy’s house. No you don’t understand it’s not like the KKK or cross burning, the black guy broke into the white guys house when the white guy was away and only his wife and newborn baby were at home.
They might bring up the topics because they have to, but people like HHH and Prichard in the trailer suggests this isn't going to be a firing squad of talking heads going after him for that stuff, either.
the bulk of that stuff was shot years ago so I wouldn't expect much on the current situation beyond probably the 6th and final episode, which I'd assume will be mostly Ringer talking heads and non WWE personnel I think people forget this was supposed to be simply a biography type series until the scandal dropped so I don't think it's gonna be chalk full of dirt from start to finish
Fair, but I'm thinking if there was some legitimately interesting stuff being said on the topic it would have made its way in the trailer just to set up that this isn't a puff piece. Outside of Bret Hart, is there anyone in that trailer that would make you think this isn't going to be a bunch of stars and friends ultimately waiving off the behavior? I hope I'm wrong and it's good, but I'm skeptical.
I haven't watched the Netflix show about the Urban Meyer UF teams yet but I did get the general reaction of people to it and I would imagine this will be similar. If people expect to learn things they didn't already know or they think this will be some major hit piece, they will be in for disappointment.
We have decades of hearing the thoughts of people like Austin, Rock, Cena, HHH and Hogan on Vince. Same with Prichard and Bischoff through their podcasts. If those are the main voices countering Vince in his own words, the only person from that group I can see saying anything meaningful or damaging towards Vince is Vince.
You’re not wrong but those are also most of the only wrestlers a lapsed fan or non fan would even recognize, so having those guys in the trailer/doc is gonna get more people to watch than if the key people interviewed were like Ryback and Jon Moxley or Owen Hart's nutty wife
I don’t think we will ever see a doc about Vince that’s going to be ground breaking or really giving us a lot of new information or story’s we haven’t heard from the Bruce Pritchard pod or any of these wrestlers who have done interviews through the year. ZPZ is right… the majority of the doc is probably going to be a WWE version of Vince and the stuff on the lawsuit is going to be shoemaker and company giving an outside looking in reaction.
If the Vince thing is anything like the other Netflix documentaries expect to be underwhelmed unless you’re a Vince fan. To which I would ask why.
It was a lock to be underwhelming once Raw joined Netflix. No way WWE would sign that deal only to have their streaming partner put out a doc that isn’t whitewashed.
Will pass unless there are dramatic recreations of drunk Vince taking wrestlers finishers in titty bars.
You really don't think it's possible that the new business relationship between the WWE and Netflix could change the content of a doc like this just because it started before that relationship existed?
They've had their eye on WWE for awhile too. It's not like they just became interested once the FOX/NBC exclusive negotiating periods were over.
The ringer (Bill Simmons) has a close relationship with WWE. As zpz said this was never going to be some deep dive into the evil Vince.
I think you could do a 10 hour doc on Vince, but the deep dives into how he took over the territories or how he “kicked out” (insider wrestling term) when business was bad in the 90’s are overshadowed by a very real and current scandal. Also, most of the people that can add insight to the old stuff are either dead or senile or just have an aversion to telling the truth. It will be Bill Simmons telling us how he watched WrestleMania 3 on closed circuit in Connecticut movie theater with his buddy Jack O.
I was trying to think of who Vince's most famous haters are these days because so many of his old reliables are off the board Dave Meltzer (borderline senile but he's available) Superstar Billy Graham (dead) Bruno (they reconciled and then he died) Warrior (ditto) Phil Mushnick (still alive) Billy Jack Haynes (senile and just killed someone)
he said the same thing back in July, he's just trying to get clout by being the first person to say it's done the real story is gonna come from actual journalists like Variety or the Hollywood Reporter
