I mean like yeah....
Ok another cliffs request:
What is Batman?
Ill do you one better, Why is Batman?
The Long Halloween is a murder mystery featuring Batman's entire rogue's gallary.
It's maybe the best Batman story ever. Certainly my favorite
Taking place during Batman's early days of crime fighting, The Long Halloween tells the story of a mysterious killer named Holiday, who murders people on holidays, one each month. Working with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Captain James Gordon, Batman races against the calendar as he tries to discover who Holiday is before he claims his next victim each month, while attempting to stop the crime war between two of Gotham City's most powerful families, Maroni and Falcone. This novel also acted as a re-introduction to the DC Universefor one of Batman's most elusive foes, Calendar Man, who knows the true identity of the Holiday killer but refuses to share this with Batman. He instead riddles and gives Batman hints from his Arkham Asylum cell. The story also ties into the events that transform Harvey Dent into Batman's enemy, Two-Face.Enemies such as Scarecrow, the Joker, Mad Hatter, Poison Ivy, and the Riddler, among others, also make appearances.
In continuity terms, The Long Halloweencontinues the story of Batman: Year One. It also revolves around the transition of Batman's rogues gallery from simple mob goons to full-fledged supervillains. It also tells the origin of Two-Face, incorporating elements of the story in Batman: Annual #14
If you haven't read TLH do not read the spoilers. It's a mystery story. Don't ruin it for yourself.
I bought the graphic novel for my son this summer and he burned through it in two days. Said it was the best Batman story he's ever experienced.
so how many movies are they going to make in this series? seems like there’s enough material for quite a few
detective skills are the best let's do this
Hold on, I’m certainly not against this movie being based off this story, but there are so many elements that Nolan used for his trilogy.
I would like to see new and updated renditions of the riddler and penguin, but I don’t know I feel about getting a new two-face origin story.
On the flip side, a villain who kills on holidays sounds cool.
Meanwhile, the comics are REALLY leaning into the Batman Who Laughs. He was only introduced in 2017 and a major antagonist in his 3rd series already.
Yeah, because he’s a great character.
He’s also getting a fourth series.
Who is left on his Earth? Literally no one. He killed everybody except Alfred and his Robins.
He’s not on “his” Earth. He’s on the Earth of the main DC continuity.
Yeah, I know. His Earth is empty....because he killed everyone
You should not only buy the book but support a local (preferably mom and pop) comic shop
If they don’t have it in, they should be able to order it for you
I’m a self admitted nerd, but some of my best memories when I was a kid were when my friend and I were hanging out at the local comic shop.
I never went all in with comics, but there was a few year run in middle school where I collected Simpsons comics and have really fond memories of stopping by the local shop
That and Blockbuster for me
When you find that last case in the new release isle of a movie you want to see...
We as a society lost something wonderful when we lost the video rental store. VHS horror sections were our modern Library of Alexandria
Definitely remember going to the comic store. Did baseball card trades and raffles there too
this movie is fantastic. And one of a couple that shows Pattinson can act and isn't just some twilight heartthrob
Hollywood Video always had a much better selection of genre and B movie films than Blockbuster did
We still had a couple Family Videos near us until a couple years ago. It was like going back in time.
You mean when it’s not on the shelf but you go to the counter to find the one that was just returned.
Definitely. I've got full faith he can pull off a really good Batman
I feel like parts of this story were in one of the Arkham Asylum games
Calendar Man had a side quest in the second one.
This was the inspiration for the first game, and coincidentally the rumored storyline for this movie when Affleck was still attached to it:
I thought Arkham Knight felt like it was inspired by Long Halloween
Tangentially related: what’s the source material for the upcoming HBO Watchmen show?
This is making me want to do another play through of the Arkham series.
There is none, really. Just a theoretical future/present in that universe.
Not a big fan of Hill
Hope the movie isn't based on the Batman series Kevin Smith wrote
that guy is very hit and miss
and I hope that’s not true
I love both castings.
Hill was good in wolf of Wall Street but idk, it depends on his casting
this is a great casting, guy is so underrated
TDKR Blu Ray and graphic novel
It’s based on Jeff Loeb’s The Long Halloween
If you’re not sure about Jonah Hill as a villain watch War Dogs
Can I get some cliffs on this story?
Yes if only people watched Westworld
Jonah is awesome.
I remember Calendar Man from the Arkham video games
