    What a fucking night.

    - Buy in for $200
    - Five hands in, hit our local aces cracked bounty for $500. Sitting with about $650 accounting for the loss on the hand.
    - About a half hour later, lose $250 with top two vs. middle set
    - Very next hand, lose the rest with KK vs. AA to the same player.
    - Rebuy for $200 and grind to about $325
    - Five limpers to me in the BB with 10-4 suited. Check, flop comes TA4. Bet $10, two callers. Turn 4. Bet $15, call, raise to $85. Shove, get called by K4. River bricks a Q, back to $640.

Where the hand histories at? ??

On a side note, pocket aces now moving closer to even after a monster pot at $2/5. Funny how one hand can quickly erase a couple months worth of bad beats.

We aren't playing for big money at all, most .20/.40. A huge hand is a $30 pot. Just something to pass the time at night when I'm bored.

Good to hear you called, which was absolutely the right play based on villain's history, your holding, and that turn card. As noted in my edit, the turn card increased his bluffing range and fold equity exponentially. There were so many 6s he could have, so K6 makes complete sense given the flop action.

    Last two live sessions:

    - On Friday, lose a $800 pot with AA vs. KK when villain spikes the case king on the river.
    - Last night, lose a $800 pot with AK on a flop of 7AQ when villain (who was drunk and spewy) calls my shove reraise with Q6 and hits a 6 on the river.

    Fun times.

Solid rebound from the shitty week tonight. Entered our $25 rebuy KO tourney and took second for $255 with the knockouts, then took that money straight to the cash table for our $1/2 game and won $550 more.

Highlight hand was pretty late in the session; got dealt KK UTG +1 with a $5 straddle, raise to $17, two calls, BB reraise to $117 (I have $320 behind, he has about $500). I shove, one guy calls with his last $100, BB tanks (thank God) then finally calls with AT suited, while the other guy had 88. Two boards, no Ace or 8. Ship it.

For those still on the fence about getting into the TMB online group, we'll be having a freeroll tourney tomorrow at 2 p.m. sponsored by yours truly. $50 to first, $30 to second, $20 to third. Still offering $100 in credit for the first week of play. Send me a PM if interested.

I only have experience with Florida 1/2 NL which insanely varies but how deep are people in this game? Having a $500+ stack in the games I’ve played in is almost unheard of unless you play long sessions and/or the deck hits you in the face.

Depends on who comes in to play. We have some guys with money to burn and liquored up who sit down with $500 (the table max), then start spewing, stacks build, and the rule is you can buy in for the max stack, so others do that. One night I played, came in with $500 from the secondary table, and was by far the short stack; there was probably $10-12k on the table. It was nuts.

Add to that most of these players understand nothing about preflop bet sizing (typical raise is something in the range of $12-20) and the game essentially plays like a $5/10 on busy nights.

The simple truth of the matter is I can’t keep doing high hand bonuses, freerolls, rakeback, etc. without more players. I would strongly encourage posters on the fence to just download and try it out for a week or so on credit; it’s $100 and you only need to pay back what you lose if it’s not for you.

Got to play the other night and was in this crazy hand. I’m big blind playing 1/2 with about $185 at this point. Some lady couldn’t stand me all night because she limped with AA and I had 94 in the BB and turned a boat and felted her. Anyway she’s in this hand (UTG +2 ) and more than anything I want to break her again. She also plays every hand I’m in as a funny revenge move. Other guy in the hand is the button and he’s foreign and wearing sunglasses and a hoodie all night.

    Me: Kd6d
Preflop: Lady raises to $10, 2 other callers beside button and myself.
Flop: 7h9d10d. I check, lady bets $25, Button raises to $75. Before i act, lady calls out of turn so I at least know she can’t shove and proves to me she’s weak. (Which a funny side story she did this 2 other times and I made sure to call her out on it each time just to piss her off). I call with a flush draw and gut shot.
Turn board: 7h 9d 10d 2s. I already had my mind made up to represent here and shove for about $100 once the card hits the table. Lady has zero hesitation and shoves as well for $140. Button tanks for about 5 minutes. Pot is about $515 and he needs to call $140 which he had over $400 in front still. He calls.

    River Board: 7h 9d 10d 2s Ac

    Me: Kd 6d Missed everything
Lady: Qd 8d. Also missed. Lesser flush draw than me.
Button: Ad Jd. Also a missed flush draw but hit his Ace for the only pair.

...if only the button would’ve folded...I would’ve won $475 with K high. All had high flush draws and gut shot straight draws.

Call pre. Check-call flop if no re-reraise, but I can't see a check-call as played. You're not drawing to the nuts, and you certainly can't count any of the 3 gutter outs since you're drawing to the ass end. Would rather see a donk lead on the flop if you already deciced to play the turn hard. Also, your flop and turn line doesn't make any sense. You're never folding out that lady since she has it in for you. What were you repping? A scared flopped straight, two pair, or set?

Ya not my best play but I could’ve flopped a straight with J8 or a set in which I probably would’ve bet my hand the same way. Button re-raise in this case was very loose and showing multiple bluffs. In hindsight, jamming the turn I feel was the best move knowing their hands. Both would’ve called a flop shove but with a blank turn for both I was hoping for folds. If only I had more money on the turn, I would bet both flush draws fold. Oh well. It was just crazy the way it all played out. Table actually sucked bad.

True, though a jam with a straight/set after button's re-raise would have still been the play. As you noted, your stack size in relation to the pot didn't give you any fold equity on the turn. The turn jam was just a pot-builder given the flop action and your history with the woman.

I guess the real question here is would you have jammed the flop with a flopped straight or set if not for the lady whom you had designs on felting?

I think if I jam before she called out of turn that she folds then I’m heads up and still lose the pot.

  29. Schadenfred

    Schadenfred Well-Known Member

Not if you instead had a flopped set or straight, which was the premise.

With the cards each of you actually had, though, I doubt she would have folded with flush and open-ended straight draws. And button with the nut flush draw, a belly-buster, and substantial money already in the pot certainly doesn't fold after she calls. I guess if there is any consolation here, it's knowing that you were fucked no matter what you did... unless it was folding to button's flop re-raise. In the long run, I don't think folding your hand facing that action on the flop is a losing play when all you've invested is 5% of your stack.

    Good stuff. Thanks Schadenfred

I just remembered one of the best moments of the night. The table was clearly split. It almost felt like seats 1-4 were playing against 7-10. Guy in seat 4 in the other group was soap boxing all night. I think he said he worked on Wall Street some time ago. He had this huge revelation about his game and money management giving his bullshit unsolicited advice to his group and saying things like he hasn’t had a losing week since. I just hate listening to shitheads like that “teaching” players at the table.

Fast forward a bit. Guy next to me in Seat 9 gets in a 3 way hand with seats 1 and 4. Action escalated fast on a AJ5 flop. Seat 1 bets $15, seat 4 min raises to $30, seat 9 jams all in for $150 easily 2x pot. Seat 1 tanks and ends up calling and seat 4 snap calls. My guy in seat 9 stands up ready to leave and shows his AQ. Seat 1 shows pocket 10s (wtf call) and seat 4 shows A8 off. AQ holds and soapbox A 8 guy goes silent for the next hour.

Have stacked him once this session with aces over kings. Have also bluffed him twice in big pots and noticed that he is trying to play in every hand I am in now. Villain has $450.

I probably fold. Still have $300 behind. I don’t like his check raise there if he has Aces, hit his king or even a set. Check raising on a draw makes no sense. I would either put him on 89 or pocket 10s to Qs.

I’ll say you rivered the straight though if you didn’t fold the turn.

Is it your standard line to under-bet the flop with the same amount as the pre-flop raise?

H1: The previous question is pertinent to this hand.

H2: Would you call with AQo?

  43. HuskerGuy99

    HuskerGuy99 Above Average Member

No, I will typically c-bet 1/3-1/2 pot depending on many factors. Just a coincidence that it was the same in these two hands.

As for H2, that's an interesting question. Given my history with this opponent, I would say it's a close spot. He may very well have a similar hand as he has shown the ability to check-raise post-flop with draws like this.

  44. Schadenfred

    Schadenfred Well-Known Member

Then H2 is more about reads than anything else. The rub here is that he may think he's bluffing you despite actually being ahead. And if he is bluffing you with nothing but a draw, then no less than a third of the deck gives him a winner on the river. In the long run, I think the very best you could hope for here is to break even.

Anyway, if I'm looking to play an aggressive, bluffy villain who has it in for me like the one in H2, I'm generally not raising pre-flop with 35s on the button. I'd isolate with stronger hands (e.g., > 89s) and play cheap with trashy suited-gappers. Among all the hands I want to have when bloating the pot, 35s sits at the very bottom next to 24s. Don't think it's a loser to chop off the hands at the bottom of your range when stack sizes are only 15x your pre-flop raise.

Played at the Sands in Bethlehem today. $300 HH every half hour most of the day. It was pretty packed.

Couldn’t catch a break for 2 hours. Every QQ AK suited or something good lost. Was down $300 fast. Caught back up in a big way when I flopped a straight against an aggressive bettor with a set. When up $200 only to have to leave just about even. Sit at a slot machine to play a voucher I had on the way out and won $200. What a roller coaster.

H1: felted. He had K9o. For those of you that have not played with a lot of Armenian players, they are some of the biggest bluffers/aggro players around. Unfortunately, after playing a few hours with this guy, he was the complete opposite and if this hand went down at the end of the session, I fold on the flop no problem.

H2: I folded. Didn't like it, and I think I may have been good. No clue what he had.

Ran one of the bigger bluffs I’ve done in a while last night at 1/2.

Dealt AJ of clubs UTG facing a $5 straddle OTB. Raise to $15, two callers. Flop is KQ4, one club. Lead out for $30, fold, one call by straddle. Turn is a brick 8, lead for $65, call. River is a 7, throw in last $110, button flips over a J and folds.

Luckily my hands didn’t start shaking until after I scooped the pot. Think he must have had JT.
