In early access, so it’s still buggy as shit. Turn based combat on the D&D 5e ruleset. About an hour in and it’s got major Divinity: Original Sin 2 vibes (same studio did both).
My wife and I tried playing it Tuesday and it was a bit annoying because she would start a conversation and I would have to go to her and click on them talking. We decided to restart separately and play at our own pace, and then restart together after we play it through. It’s enjoyable, and I think the replayability will be great to add to the cycle of games right now.
I made it past the first area and got my first companion, and already had my first team wipe. Oops. I restarted as a ranking fighter instead of my squishy wizard build
Same fight, this time with 3 party members, still TPK. Oops! 2 in the party got one shot critted. Game is brutal if you’re unlucky.
I was looking at this over the weekend, I have no DND experience, but am interested in it - how's the learning curve?
very beginner friendly. It's in early access so it's not perfect right now. It's hard and as of last week they hadn't added difficulty settings, so be prepared to die.
I'm a moron and just realized you can use the help action to bring a fallen teammate up from 0 HP. I am so dumb. Well game just got 50% easier.
