Battlefield 2042

This Dice is basically nobody from the old games from my understanding. Hopefully they have someone that can actually handle saving this game like Dice LA did when they were brought in to fix BF4

 

I think somebody in here said it, or maybe the group I was playing with. This feels like it was not originally going to be a full on BF. The lack of modes, lack of guns at the start, addition of specialists, and a bunch more make me think this was originally going to be a BR title. Easily the weakest launch of a BF title ever, barely beating out BF4.

Another huge complaint I've got that I haven't seen discussed here is the attachment unlocks. One of the AR's I've seen requires you to unlock 4 suppressors with identical stats before you can unlock anything else. Most of the attachments are basically cosmetic items. One of the recoil attachments does the opposite of what it's intended to do, actually increasing recoil

 

Yeah it kind of sucks. I also jumped on BF1 not too long ago for a few rounds and the great thing that game did was let you know where you were. You may not have a clue what the hell it was unlocking but randomly it would tell you, 37/100 kills. How hard is that to pop up in game?

just saying there’s a level of completionism in some people, where that’s the satisfying action. It’s not hard, they are in the addiction game. Also I’ve noticed it’s straight kills. Throw some uniqueness in there for certain attachments or something. Just bland.

 

The XP system and attachment unlocks were always some of my favorite parts of the franchise. It felt like no matter how much you played, there was always something you could work for.

 

I find myself having a hard time setting aside any time for the game right now, especially with Vanguard and Halo available.

Pretty good comment I saw on reddit talking about the poor level design. I swear I'm enjoying the game, but you have to play it a specific way to enjoy it. For me, its DMR, healing, vehicles and not much else. Can't really play portal anymore because you can't unlock attachments

 

The game sucks and no amount of nostalgia will get me to like it. The quality of releases has dropped significantly since the early 2000s. No originality, just money making decisions

 

I dont even know how they monetize this.

 

BTW, I still do enjoy it, maybe I have a simpleton brain. Regardless, one thing I learned that I had no clue about until I read. The gun attachments closest to your gun is the default that is on when you enter into a match.

 

I guess I would just play Halo or Destiny for a fake shooter.

Same. Can't believe in a game with 128 players it's impossible to have more than 4 play together.

 

This has happened before. BF1 had it too. It's the reason you only see the PP-29 right now.

 

I’m with you. I want realism and fuck the rest. CoD is unplayable online because of all the bullshit. Battlefield used to be flawless.

 

If y’all want to cheesedick your way quickly thru the ranks, play the rush servers at the canals and use the MAV to spot the other team. Guaranteed 4-25k xp until they patch the glitch.

Sure you’ll be a cheesedick, but you’ll be General Cheesedick before the hard release.

 

just played a game with a buddy. It’s gorgeous, but this hovercraft on our team just scaled a skyscraper.. about 40 stories worth. Initially I was pissed off because it’s ridiculous, but then I spawned in and somehow killed about 6 people at the top before dying.

overall, not bad

Spent the night playing BF3 servers and Hazard Zone. That was a lot of fun.

 

Sure glad they decided to fix an end game animation that nobody wants in the game anyways. The end game screen is so cringey. Guess the 2042 guns being basically unplayable can wait until the next patch

 

Speaking of the characters, the differences in the voice lines are absurd. That's really a small complaint, but it definitely stands out when you play the BF3 servers. "Hell yeah, this is fun" just doesn't compare to "I'm up. Fucked up, but up." It's like they just went for funny instead of dark and funny

 

Went from gritty war simulator to some bullshit Fortnite crap.

 

I wish there was a way to practice flying in a sterile environment before jumping into a match

 

You can switch it to PvE and practice.

You can there is single player and coop. You can use them there.

 

The chat is amusing all day today.

 

I tried playing again Wednesday and somehow the game was even more of a mess than the first day of early access. Spent the time scaling and flying over the skyscraper using Hovercrafts because I couldn't choose a kit or equipment.

 

The frame rate drops when shit gets going is hilarious and unplayable at times

 

Seems like it's far worse on PC than PS5. I've had a few issues but to see people on reddit tell it they can't even get in game and if they do nothing works.

I have some issues with design choices and balance issues but from a technical stand point I haven't had that many problems.

 

You're lucky. Wednesday every other round I couldn't change anything in my load out. When I could change mine, my buddy in the squad couldn't change his.

 

I have had that happen once. I just restarted the game and it fixed it.

 

PS4 and Xbox one can’t play with others. So basically I have a squad halved. So dumb.

 

Tried playing last night, first 2 games I couldn't choose my load out so I quit to the dashboard. Next game I couldn't load in because of the persistence error. So I just didn't play.

Not feeling too good about this game so far.

 

The lack of weapon choices is just inexcusable

 

Yeah it was the same for us. It didn't happen at all last week. They somehow made it worse when they pushed that small patch through

 

Hopefully that changes quickly when they put out the battlepass. Kinda doubt it

 

It'll probably be a battle pass full of different color suppressors that all have the same stats

 

I don't think that's coming until the beginning of the year unfortunately.

I mean you get 2 DMR’s with about identical stats. Your reward for running thru those? A Russian sub-gun with mid 30’s power and smooth bore shotgun accuracy. GTFO with that bullshit.

 

My favorite gun is the base SMG. It shoots like a laser compared to the AR that shoots like a storm trooper at the same distance

 

Just for funsies the other day I used that H&K UMP-clone sub gun. I scored more headshot distance kills with it than I have thus far with the actual long guns.

I used to carry one irl on SWAT and assure you they are accurate to MAYBE 50 yards at the absolute max.

 

I am not one to just follow the negative reviews for these games. Played an absolute shit load of bfv when it came out, even after it got stale. But 2042 is probably the worst launch game I've played in a very long time. Played for an hour Wednesday with my buddy and it was the worst gaming I've ever done. I've never seen that number of major issues in a launched game before. We just spent half an hour laughing at all the Hovercrafts climbing up the side of the skyscraper on that broken ass breakthrough map

 

Yeah that South Korea map with the skyscraper is the worst of the lot, especially on breakthrough. I’m level 39 now, didn’t farm or anything, but the point system is broken.

Brings me to my next point, I legit can’t tell what makes a good weapon in this game. In the past I could hone in on one item and that’s how I did all my builds. This shit doesn’t make any sense or feel any different at all from gun to gun (within class) or attachment to attachment.
