I have a recteq and weber genesis, and wanted something with better direct heat where I could manage the fire. Bought a Weber kettle and have really been enjoying it.
I love how it seems many people have been backing into grilling from smoking with a pellet grill. Used to be it seemed like people went from gas or charcoal to smoking, but now the trend has reversed
probably because once you get into it you realize the best food comes off an offset or “real” grill. I’d love an offset at some point…
Does anybody have a suggestion on a seasoning for chicken? I tried Dan-O’s and it’s alright. I’m sure there’s better though.
I previously would have said holy voodoo from meat church but they became way too openly trumpy anything by Penzeys. I think I use galena street the most
How are you cooking it? Chicken is honestly the best vehicle for flavor. If you’re looking for something a little bit different try a Mojo marinade for grilling.
I don’t know who that is but there are multiple options for it at my grocery, could also whip up your own.
This is a general BBQ rub I make for doing BBQ chicken: 6 Tablespoons paprika 2 Tablespoons ground black pepper 2 Tablespoons salt 2 Tablespoons sugar 1 Tablespoon chili powder 1 Tablespoon garlic powder 1 Tablespoon onion powder ½ teaspoon ground cayenne (red pepper) The baste with your preferred BBQ sauce at the end.
Saw this on a Blackstone page I follow on FB. Can this be the new steak pic? Lol Apparently the poster wanted to try a medium rare steak (on a Blackstone for whatever reason). She said it was disgusting. Well no fucking shit lol
Total experiment tonight Tri tip cut into bite size chunks, covered in peanut oil and salt and pepper, then thrown into the cast iron to sear
While searing in the cast iron I made a garlic and herb butter thing in the smoker, and after searing I tossed the meat in the butter pan on the smoker at like 300 for maybe an hour. Stirring the meat around in the butter several times
I bet that would be elite in a sandwich. Maybe add some thinly sliced provolone, pickled onions, and arugula.
Anyone have a preferred online vendor for steaks? I’ve got a friend getting married and would love to send him something since I can’t attend the bachelor week. I’ve been unimpressed with anything I’ve ever received as gifts from Omaha Steak or Kansas City Steak Company especially for the money. Snake River Farms seems to get hyped the most in BBQ groups. Anyone have experience with them?
There was a guy with a truck at my local tractor supply selling 5 ribeyes for $20, I bet he could hook you up
Sounds expensive. Every once in a while I see a tent driving back form the lake that advertises 20 ribeyes for $29.99. Have yet to stop to check out the product, though.
We have those guys locally once or twice a year at the mall. I’d waste $30 just to see what they look like. I’m sure the 20 steaks weigh 2 lbs total.
Prime NY strips from Sams. Should've pulled them earlier, to be honest. Can definitely taste the difference between charcoal grilling and the gasser but I'm not sure if the extra time and cleanup is worth it. Jury is still out.
looks good! The extra time doesn’t seem that bad for me. It’s more lead time just with a few min to light, if I’m already around the house not a big deal. I wfh ~3 days a week though so that helps.
I love both of my Thermoworks thermometers. I’d love to have one of theirs that has wireless capability but I’m an idiot and bought the wrong one. I haven’t used the smoke X to give a review but based on my experience with two other devices, I’m confident it’s great.
I just got notification from Google that I am ranked in the top 10% of Google reviewers for bbq restaurants. I'll just let yall bask in the greatness that I am for a minute....
Went to the butcher today and grabbed steaks for Mother’s Day and grabbed some country ribs for this afternoon.
