I was in an equity and trauma training this morning and naturally people mentioned how they never knew about all of these racial disparity statistics in income, incarcerations, school discipline, etc. I threw out a couple of rhetorical "Why is there such a big pushback recently to teaching this in schools?" and "I wonder if these systems are this way by design?" I think the presenter knew what I was doing and quickly tried to move on.
I just started at a new company and went through some similar training. There was 400 people on this call so I didn't want to try and bog things down, but for all the good this lady talked about marginalization and biases (white) people don't often realize, there was sadly no talk about how the United States insane capitalist system still continues to drive these inequities, it was all just superficial regular lib stuff.
