My first choice, but earliest reservation is like 845 and we're old.

For some reason, wife doesn't like Bottega even though she would admit every meal we've ever had there was fantastic.

I do like Dupont, just have done that some. It's also very loud (really my only critique), although I will say I think it's a step below the others just because the waitstaff is less professional.

Galley & Garden is only OK; it's a solid place if you need a large group or event dinner, though. I agree it's not what it was pre-pandemic.

 

My other thought was actually to do Aviné + Bar la Fête both in one night and just stay downtown.

 

DuPont has great food but their ambiance needs work, music was too loud the last time I was there

Anyone got any good getaways that are 1.5-2 hours max away from Birmingham? Like, nice hotel, dinner, maybe do something (something doesn't have to do be fancy). Would be basically afternoon to afternoon.

 

I can't think of anything that close except for Ross Bridge. Which we have done for a no kid night getaway and it's not bad. Send the lady to the spa and go drink by the pool. It's not a bad deal.

The Grand in Fairhope is nice but i wouldn't go there without my kids.

Cheateau Elan is like 3 hours away in Georgia and ideal for your need.

 

I went to Good People last night and they had a pretty good Cherry Almond sour that smelled amazing.
