I desperately need Marlon to have a Terry Bradshaw/Jesse Palmer type career after football. Need him hosting some show on primetime television called Guess That Celebrity Dog’s Weight or costarring in Failure 2 Launch
Feel like Vegas putting the line at close to a touchdown means they are begging the public to take ole miss. Can’t say I get it but it would be very funny and awesome if we beat the hell out of them.
Milroe starts. Goes 20/25 for 330 and 3 TDs with another rushing TD on top. We win by 24. Then he goes 11/28 for 100 yards and 3 INTs against State and we lose by a TD
I don't know what the think about the Josh Pate comments. On one hand, I think it's a bit ridiculous to suggest that guys that are essentially auditioning and putting stuff on tape for a pro career would just "throw" a game away, essentially. On the other hand, I do think the quickest way to lose a locker room is to play a guy that is clearly inferior to everybody who has a set of eyes over someone who is vastly more deserving. I just don't see any way at all Buchner should have been selected to be the one to start that game. Coaches lose all credibility when that happens and the "earn it in practice" stuff starts to fall on deaf ears. I think probably the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The defense certainly came to play. I think the offense was more pissed off about what happened and maybe we're on the brink of losing the lockeroom if we don't make the right choice with our next starter. I think probably the truth is that the offense is just bad... maybe the effort wasn't 100% but it looked bad because it is bad.
We looked exactly like we did against Texas. The only players that showed zero promise were the QBS. I like Pate but he is wrong. The team is just bad and people are trying to find a deeper reason.
Lol check this off your bingo card. Next we will see Byrne come out and give his full support to saban and his staff.
These dudes today make a portion of their NIL dollars by going on podcasts and talking. The "talking" is a new reality that everyone just needs to get used to
Fine with him talking, and the team meeting thing doesn’t bother me. But he sounded like a fucking idiot last week. If he is going to make statements like that and follow it up with the performance they gave against usf he is going to get blasted.
Tennessee had a players only meeting before they got their ass beat by Florida… media doing media things.
Soon enough these kids will learn the first step to making a ton from NIL is to actually produce results on the field. Losers don't keep getting media invites or NIL offers. Neither do transfers.
Man I’m not even mad at the players. I believe they are doing the best with what is given to them. I think all the coaches fucking suck.
Eventually boosters and the people paying ridiculous money for NIL and freshman recruits will start to see that maybe, you make them earn the money before throwing it at them. Figured people would’ve seen this with DJU and the Dr Pepper shit last year. They went in fully on him as their guy, paid him slot of money, he sucked. Maybe would’ve been smarter to wait and see or pick someone who’s proved it over multiple years.
I've heard people say this, and have thought about it myself at times, but I think the reality is there are always going to be people lined up to throw money at the next big recruit. It's been going on under the table for decades and only got more prevalent, which is actually what gave birth to NIL.
Case and point. I was with a bunch of Aubs last night and they could name almost every coach on our 2017 team. Could only name Steele and Reese. There wasn’t one assistant they feared.
My comment sounded more critical of the players than I intended. I agree the coaching has been and is still likely the biggest problem. I just have seen that pregame video "same things win that always won" quote so many times that I have fully bought into that shit. Of course, not in my life, but in what I expect from the program. And the comments recently about kids today having more to deal with seemed to really show how far from that Alabama standard the current mindset for some of the team seems to be. If we just were disciplined the last 2 years, we might have another title(s).
How often do you have a high ranking inside guy who is willing to get fired after making ~$2M for his part in the scheme?
It’s a pretty big shift in who controls the narrative about the program. Saban used to only allow a few upperclassmen to speak to the media and even then they seemed quite limited in how they responded. Now any players can give an interview with whom ever they want and we’ve got Booker making an ass of himself and probably more doing the same.
I feel like that mandate had to have come from higher up though. I can't imagine we just accidentally had all of our starters make massive weight gains. Supposedly Wolf wanted bigger (more physical guys), but it's been a total disaster.
On one hand he's got an amazing chance to be the starter the moment he gets on campus, but on the other, the dynasty is over and look at the rest of that recruiting class.
literally reminded me of T Love at that all star game in Orlando vs. the 5 star end that went to Clemson. (blanking on his name)
I mean is it? To think that maybe you shouldn’t throw a mill at someone who hasn’t played college yet? I don’t think that’s a hot take. It just probably won’t ever happen.
