You didn’t hear? We got a commitment today from a kid from Charlotte, and one in the chamber from south Alabama.
Baghdad Bob out here making sure the masses understand how impressive these almost tackles against FAU are https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/kameron-howard-clips-thoughts.1403302/#post-27321436
Malachi Moore started at DB and made 44 tackles and had 3 INTs for a team that won the national title as a true freshman. Basically the same guy
The jury is still out on DeBoer. Saban's model was go get the highest rated guys and build a team around that. Debo seems to evaluate guys a little differently kind of like Oats bc they fit what he's trying to do. He did a hell of job at Washington with that strategy. We'll see how it plays out here. I actually feel better about it in the portal/NIL era but it's going to look different than what we've become accustomed to.
Freshman defensive back Peyton Woodyard entered the transfer portal this evening, but this wasn’t a move that caught Alabama off guard, according to sources. After A-Day, the Crimson Tide expected Woodyard to transfer, and today, he officially entered his name in the portal with a “do not contact” tag. I know what it looks like with Kameron Howard committing earlier today, but Alabama was looking to upgrade the defensive back position, including safety, before spring practice ended. Howard was coming in whether Woodyard stayed or not because the staff felt like the Charlotte transfer could come in, compete and help the team.
Yeah Nick Saban - the greatest coach of all time - did all his recruiting based off Rivals rankings, not fit.
If you even questioned shit in this thread for years you’d get absolutely roasted. Now we haven’t even played a down and our defense apparently already sucks. At least be consistent with your shitposting.
We can agree to disagree on all sorts of things, but I do question if Wommack has the juice. Offensively we will be great, but the jury is out on the defense.
The new coaching staff at Alabama is off to a fast start on the recruiting trail in the 2026 cycle with 10 commits and On3’s No. 6 class heading into the summer. As Kalen DeBoer and company push forward they’re still looking for their quarterback and this spring evaluation period will be big in perhaps finding that signal-caller. One of the first players co-offensive coordinators Nick Sheridan and Jamarcus Shephard went to go see was Duncanville (Texas) High On300 quarterback Keelon Russell, and they offered a scholarship after watching him throw last week. Currently committed to SMU, the state champion passer isn’t taking the full-ride from the Crimson Tide lightly. “The opportunity to compete at a high stage and be the guy under a great offense,” Russell said of what stands out, adding it could be a great fit for his personal development. “Really just knowing what they did with Washington and Micheal Penix makes it fun.” The 6-foot-2, 1/2, 185-pound Russell has a body-type reminiscent of Penix when he was coming out of high school, and the On3 Industry tabs him as the nation’s No. 8 quarterback and No. 78 prospect overall. Russell is coming off a fantastic junior season completing over 74 percent of his passes for 3,267 yards and 35 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He added another 304 yards rushing and four more scores. Other schools in the mix include Oregon, Florida and Texas. If not Russell who for Alabama? Carrollton (Ga.) High five-star and USC commit Julian Lewis visited twice during the spring. He has always liked Alabama, and is starting to build a connection with the new staff. Auburn and Colorado have emerged this spring as the two programs being the biggest threats to flip Lewis from the Trojans (and I give the best odds to the Tigers right now), but communication remains regular with Alabama and as this recruitment continues we’ll see if the Crimson Tide can make a run. Notre Dame On300 quarterback commit Deuce Knight is one Alabama continues to have dialogue with as well. A couple others that Alabama is keeping tabs on include San Antonio (Texas) Claudia Taylor Johnson On300 quarterback Ty Hawkins who is a verbal to TCU, and Kernersville (NC) East Forsyth On300 signal-caller Bryce Baker who is a verbal to North Carolina.
I think Womack is a question mark until he proves it on the field. But I'm not going to start this defeatism and sky is falling fear mongering before they even play a down. Also I'd give CDB a little benefit of the doubt. I genuinely think he was the best available realistic candidate. He just dominated Lanning and Sark 4-0 in 2 seasons. He knows a little about coaching. He isn't going to field just a complete shitshow of a defense or hire some inept dipshit DC. Also we still have a loaded roster so they could literally say see ball hit ball and do at least half way decent.
I'm not even actually questioning or slightly concerned about anything I just wanted to make fun of Clint Lamb some.
He played 0 snaps here so who the hell knows His recruiting rank was pretty good and Kirby and Saban liked him, so more than likely he will be.
These post spring portals by freshman enrollees seem crazy but are just something we are going to have to get more used to. Think of all the stories of players you hear who “would have transferred” under the current rules. System no longer forces kids to deal with adversity, homesickness, or whatever and stick things out. They can just go and probably even get a raise
Honestly happy we didn't lose more guys after the coaching change. Pretty good sign that those maybe on the fence stayed through spring and only 1 decided to move on. Kids that came to play for Saban came for serious, non bullshit. The fact that guys who said yes to Saban then for the most part bought what DeBoer was selling makes me feel pretty good.
Dominated in the sense that he beat these coaches repeatedly which is in fact Lanning and Sark getting dominated. Stated otherwise they didn't win one fucking time.
I think our football roster is very very good. (Second best on campus even!) and the only reason folks are disappointed in the portal so far is because homers like Josh Pate teased us and made it sound like we were going to bring in 5 all Americans. Could we use some help at DB? Sure. But that’s the only real position of need we really had that wasn’t adequately addressed. Adding a WR would be a luxury.
We’re winning the fucking natty in football. Our front seven is nasty and our offense is nasty and we have the best kicker combo in the nation
