The Bears contingency plan for Mitch not living up to his draft hype was to bring in a mediocre at best qb that if nothing else is just a different name. Their only hope was that with two, one of them was bound to play decent. Well that hasn't happened and even though they are worse off with Foles the had no plan C so they refuse to give up on plan B.
Does any team have a plan C for QBs in one given year? Nagy is clearly over Mitch. He made that decision last year when he benched errr when Mitch got “hurt” in the game against the Rams. Without Covid Foles is the starter week 1 and you don’t have the first three weeks of Mitch. Is the narrative different if Foles is 5-1 and then we start this losing streak? Maybe he’s given more slack, maybe his numbers look different and he’s not the worst QB in the nfl. Either way Pace and Nagy bet on Foles and they rolled snake eyes.
Eh, we were healthier in the beginning and played shit teams that were missing players. We're down to nobody on the OLine which is a big, big deal. Not defending Foles, he hasn't played well, but this is a team problem, not a single player problem. Coaching as well.
The offense those first 3 weeks was much different as well. Remember, Nagy finally got to unleash “his whole playbook” starting week 4.
I gotta think with this O-Line Mitch would be the smarter play. Maybe just wishful thinking/grass is greener though.
The Bengals have the worst OL in football and are playing backups to that shit tier starting group. They can move the ball just fine on offense. Its QB... Its always QB.
QB is definitely the main reason; it's possibly the single most important position in team sports. But that's not really a fair comparison. They have Burrow, a definitive stud. It was clear from the start we needed more around Mitch/Foles.
Probably not, but the Vikings aren't going to be able to gameplan for Lazor Might be good for some fools gold
Game wise you’re right, we need a QB and some OL for the long term fix. Nagy realizing he wasn’t an offensive genius was also on the list of fixes, this is a start for a real fix.
Nagy is handing the role off NOW but next season he will be calling plays again. I’ve seen this rodeo before with Andy Reid. They hand the play calling duties when all is lost. New OC doesn’t improve the team to close the year. They spin it as lack of talent. Next season he takes the role back.
Reid has given the duty up several times in his career and taken it back, actually this year Bieniemy is calling the plays right?
I like the orange. Think the ball was loose but he did have it in his arms when the knee hit, they’ll probably overturn this.
I hate myself so I’m going to say it. I want to see what Mitch looks like in a non-Nagy called offense.
I thought the same thing, although Foles also sucks he does have a stronger arm than Mitch. I just don’t think Mitch has the zip to make some of those throws.
