Moved Nelson Velasquez for Jose Cuas. Honestly these moves are actually good ones so far. Herz doesn't look like he'll be able to stick as a starter because of walk issues. Made is a relatively light hitter. Velasquez is essentially blocked by better prospects. If you'd have told me in '21 we'd trade Herz, I'd have been furious, but having Wicks, Horton, Brown, Ferris, etc. now, basically means I'm "eh" about him being moved.
Another positive about Jeimer is we could probably bring him back on a pretty affordable contract after the season, and he'd be a solid every day third baseman.
That's three guys we really can't lose this off-season. And they should 100% be in on Ohtani. It's time to be a boss again.
I mean...he's been filthy this year. Everyone who laughed at that pick when it was made is eating a big fat, bag of dicks right now.
Mancini gone Good shit by Jed landing Hosmer and Mancini and neither of them playing a game in August
At the South Bend Cubs game. Your first round pick Matt Shaw just laced a triple on his first plate appearance as a pro. Looked good
Now do Barnhart. Honestly, kudos to ownership for letting him cut a guy with a other 7 million due next year.
Caissie with 2 more home runs tonight. Season OPS up to .940. No reason he shouldn’t be in AAA with PCA soon.
Went and watched PCA tonight in his AAA debut. Walked and struck out, stole a base. Didn’t make it to the 3rd AB as it was 8:15 and the 1 year old was ready for bed. .500 OBP though! Just wanted to report some more good news. Everything’s coming up Cubs.
That'd be a mighty aggressive move. Not to mention Canario, PCA are already there, and Perlaza is raking.
I know this is a long shot, but anyone have tickets they’re looking to sell for tonight? My 3 year old woke up this morning and asked if we could go to the Cubs game tonight. My last job finished on Monday and next one doesn’t start until next Tuesday so we hopped in the car and we’re about three hours from Chicago right now. I’ll grab some from the resale sites if I need to but thought I’d check here.
What the hell has gotten into the team. Did buying at the deadline instill crazy confidence in them or something? I also want to say I hate the majority of baseball fans. Had an argument today with a dude about Ian Happ because he said he was a garbage player. I asked if he didn't like gold glovers with .375 OBP's who were going to draw 100 walks this year. Dude just kept bringing up his batting average.
they David Ross proofed the team and got rid of most of the bad players and replaced them with good ones. todays game feels really big since I think the cubs may have a rough weekend with Atlanta
sounds like a Boomer who hasn’t changed with the modern era of baseball… I would avoid deep baseball convos with him or tell him to Google what’s important for hitters and pitchers.
Horton seems to be the one that would make the most sense. He’s a college guy so you expect him to move faster and we need pitching.
I think Brown is on the IL so they probably don't want to ramp him back up in a playoff chase. PCA is murdering the baseball... If he continues to do that the next three weeks at AAA I don't see why he isn't playing in September.
I'd be passive aggressive and buy him a FanGraphs subscription and then say something like, "I know you are a huge baseball fan so you probably read FanGraphs a lot"
Partly we’re just regressing to the mean. Our expected win loss record right now is 62-46, not just barely above .500. We have 5th best run differential in the majors. We should easily be in the playoffs by all measures but baseball is funny and sometimes it takes all 162 games for that to work itself out.
We're also bolstered by several blow out wins though. That's where run differential can be deceiving.
True but typically that doesn’t matter since all good teams will typically have a couple blow outs a year. If you look to past seasons the team with the best run differential wins their division almost every time. Every couple years there’s one that doesn’t but even then the team that wins it is pretty close behind the leader of the division, typically. There hasn’t been anything recent like what we’re seeing right now where we have an almost 80 run differential better than the Brewers and yet trail them by 2 games.
Brewers next 9 are pirates, Rockies, white Sox. Have to try to not lose too much ground over that time frame
I keep waiting for Taillion to regress but he keeps bending but not breaking. 2.09 ERA over the last five starts. Him just getting back to career averages would be a huge boost.
Yeah, if they brought up Killian to play a long relief role then right there to start the sixth would’ve been a good time to try that.
