Who could have predicted a guy who’s velocity would as down and was worse by all kinds of metrics would be worse this year
via @stathead.com: tonight Ryan Pressly became just the 15th pitcher (and only 8th reliever) in MLB history to face at least 8 batters and record zero outs in a single game— Céspedes Family BBQ (@cespedesbbq.bsky.social) 2025-05-07T03:28:30.435Z Making history
last year his avg velo on his FB was 93 and his fastball this year is 93 I think his biggest issue is command early in counts. He's getting behind batters and he's battling uphill against the majority of the hitters he's facing. To many 0-1 counts
Cubs have been awful for a few seasons now and so I haven’t consumed the both on a daily experience like this season. This booth isn’t very good, mostly the play by play guy.
Len and JD turned out to be a good combo and wound up having great chemistry. Boog is fine but I'm not totally sure they work that well together JD has seemed annoyed and short with Cohen at times this year.
What do we think the corresponding move(s) will be for Horton? They’re clearly waiting until tomorrow to make the move because they put thielbar on the paternity list and brought cosgrove back up this afternoon. I don’t think it’ll be cosgrove right back down but who knows. As far as a 40 man spot, there’s probably no reason for Neely to be on there right now. There’s much less so this year but there’s still some clutter at the bottom of the 40 man. Edit: saw on Reddit speculation it’ll be an Eli Morgan move to the 60 day IL, which makes the most sense. He’s still shut down
Got through the hardest part of our schedule five games over .500. Now we’ve got 21 straight against teams under .500 including 15 against teams at or under .400. It’d be really great if we could win 14+ out of this 21 game stretch and put some distance between us and the rest of the division.
Cubs are going to need a closer asap Hodge isn’t ready for the role. Way too many walks and never is as sharp on b2b outings. Pressley is smoke and mirrors If we land a legit closer everyone is shuffled down a role and the pen becomes very strong. I’m almost in favor of a closer over a top of the rotation arm at this point because I think it’s one or the other… both aren’t happening. Also saw someone mention that if they get a Tucker extension worked out you can then shop Cassie more freely (Ill be extremely sad)
Well shit, I wasn’t expecting this. I’m excited to see what he can do at DH, though that sucks for Happ.
Turner probably has a window between now and Happ being ready to turn it around or my guess is he’s released
Merryweather has been shit lately. I feel like we have a decent core with Thielbar, Palencia, Hodge, and Keller. We need a true closer and one more dependable arm.
He did, that k rate is still atrocious and I don’t really want to have to depend on him come October.
Horton better learn how to spot his fastball. All these meatballs down the middle will get smoked at this level. Its not the minors where 95 will erase the placement issue.
Seiya should be allowed to murder one ump a year with his bat. Umps are squeezing pitchers everywhere this year but still manage to ring him up on pitches 3 inches outside.
Miguel Amaya owes Nelson Cruz a ton of money. Convincing him to drop that leg kick saved Amaya’s career.
Going on the IL apparently with an oblique injury. Very curious who they bring up. I feel like brasier has to be close
