Except that whole beginning part where they said it was Democratic hoax people didn’t need to be concerned with. It’s not like *checks notes*.. oh fuck chud viewers still doubt covid.
Friend popped positive on rapid test for paxlovid and teledoc isnt writing her a prescription. Whats she supposed to do?
There are supposedly test-to-treat locations around the US where you can get a + test and then have a person there write you a script for Paxlovid. Like any of this, you have to search for it. This site might help: https://covid-19-test-to-treat-locator-dhhs.hub.arcgis.com/
The EUA only covers folks at high risk for progression to severe covid. Which is a lot of folks (like, anyone with bmi >25), but not everyone
What's the current thinking with monoclonals? Which ones are thought to be most effective against Omicron?
Completely anecdotal, but I had to take daughter to pediatrician this morning (strep, again) and the dr said they haven’t had a positive case in office in almost 6 weeks.
That's good. I know a bunch of people around me who tested positive in the last week or so, but Michigan has been climbing again.
Seems like hospitalizations have continually stayed down so there isn't this widespread sense of another wave. I wouldn't be shocked if a ton of people are catching it again after having dodged Omicron, like me earlier last month, and shrugging it off since it's generally been very mild. If I wasn't in the study, I doubt I would have taken a PCR test after I tested positive on a rapid test I bought and thus wouldn't have shown up in any official numbers. It feels like I've heard about a lot of cases like this more recently, so who knows how much spread is really going on.
We're definitely at a point where cases and hospitalizations are manageable and deaths are back to "a 9-11 every week and a half or so."
She thinks it’s a combo of it burning through schools earlier in the year, and it being mild to where parents just assume it’s some other big going around and not Covid. She definitely doesn’t think it just disappeared
This is also prime time for people to be outside more then inside by you, right? Meanwhile the midwest and northeast are still stuck inside.
yes, but it’s getting hot and humidity will be here soon we’re about to have the flip where we are inside and you are outside
I think cases are generally rising slowly everywhere. I could buy that we aren't seeing a big uptick in cases logged but then seeing reports of tons and tons of people who would regularly get tested (people in the white house admin) are popping positive in bunches all of a sudden. I also got Omicron COVID at an outdoor only beer festive where I was around a bunch of people maskless but wore one in our rideshare and indoors, so this is still very very contagious.
one of my kid's preschool teachers just tested positive. thankfully county health dept has come to its senses and now allow for classrooms to remain open. a year ago classrooms would shut down for 10 days with positive case. new guidance: masks inside for 10 days since last contact, all kids antigen tests May 2, and stay home if showing symptoms. seems reasonable.
Where? Peds cases are sort of exploding here in MN. I probably went a good month or so with really scarce cases in March, but definitely feeling this April uptick, whether it ultimately amounts to a surge or a bump
Posted this in the travel thread, but pretty sure I was at a super spreader wedding in Cartagena Colombia....like 25% of the wedding has reported positive with most experiencing symptoms. Most are vaxxed and boosted. I somehow avoided it, and somehow have never actually gotten it to my knowledge since everything began. Insanely dumb luck or GOAT antibodies
Either negative or how your body reacted. I've had several friends test positive the last few weeks all of them had extremely minor cold symptoms or no symptoms.
Me, wife, 3 y.o. and 8 m.o. are home again today with fevers(kids), body aches and bad coughs. Bunch of covid cases at their daycare. Yet we've all now had countless negative tests (home and pcr). I just don't get it. How have we still not had it?
They way they worded the tweet about the article is misleading. He doesn't say the US "Is out of the pandemic phasa". On the contrary, he said numerous times "the pandemic is not over". He did say "controlled phase", but not "endemic phase (unless I missed it somehow)
Some good news https://www.nbcnews.com/health/heal...-authorize-covid-vaccine-children-6-rcna25816 Still says that FDA will meet in June although that's only 5 weeks away, hopefully they're moving as fast as they reasonably can.
My guess is that in that age group a 3rd dose will be effective at preventing infections just like in adults
Not surprising, but I didn't realize Moderna was having the same issue that Pfizer was with it not being super effective at preventing infection against Omicron, although neither were two doses for adults at this point unless you recently got boosted. Was Pfizer adding a third dose into their trial because they were worried two shots didn't even protect much against severe illness? The good thing is it said that the booster shots they're working on for approval in the fall would be available to kids under 6 along with everyone else.
