I already answered this you're just not finding the answer sufficient. There is the social aspect behind it. Particularly pop culture and athletes. You will be seeing an NFT project at the halftime show, I can almost promise that. Probably not Gutter Cats, but stuff like this will be happening more in the future. I don't think being able to attend free events in Las Vegas and hang out with Dez Bryant is stupid, but also not the reason I paid 30k for "a JPEG" Malik Monk already wore custom shoes on Christmas night. The shoes were then sold as an NFT, giving the buyer the pair of autographed physical game-worn shoes and a digital NFT to commemorate the event. This is just a tiny example of the utility behind projects like this. And all it takes is for someone bigger than Malik Monk to give this more exposure, let alone the fact that I can use the different Gutter species to brand however I please. And maybe I'm just having a lot of fun and was very lucky early last year investing in this project and others. Maybe I'm trying to work for one of these projects or already do.
fsugrad99 I'll add on The real reason I'm invested in NFTs and make it a career and find all these comments funny is that you absolutely cannot avoid web3 and NFTs. Every single person here will be interacting with an NFT by end of the year if you haven't already. Thinking it's a JPEG that you can easily save or about IRL meetups is just ignorant and shows the amount of effort put into the response. I've spent months at this and been fairly successful. Enough to get my own thread (again). Your car insurance and mortgage will be the first thing to switch to NFTs. If you're familiar with IoT that will also be pushed to web3 and on the blockchain utilizing NFTs. Meaning your car, house, HVAC unit, security system, and all that will eventually integrate with other web3 components and the NFT will be used to verify ownership of these things. If people are really serious about learning about this then you need to understand what a smart contract is first. Then research web3. These arguments are the equivalent of someone saying they'd never buy an iPhone and will always use a Blackberry. That's fine. You're resisting change. But what happened to Blackberry for not adapting to mobile apps and sticking to their keyboard we all loved?
People who call things web3 are absolutely grifters who hope they are in on the ground floor for the next big scam.
No. We're at a standstill over the use of judges and needing to purchase an altcoin. It's unnecessary. You can send a message to anyone from your wallet(s) and just pay gas and anyone here that's interested can verify the message was sent from the addresses.
Please explain. You've said scam twice now but had no juice behind it either time. It's all baseless.
Yes I really want my HVAC and dishwasher to be on the blockchain to prove I own it. I can also prove I own it by virtue of it being a physical thing that’s located in my house. Just admit that it’s a good get rich quick scam and that gets your blood going.
It’s a get rich quick scam. If these dumbass jpegs were “worth” $0.02 rather than $200k I doubt you’d be interested.
Lol I'm not the one getting amped up about this. Service techs being able to use and scan QR codes on their phone or tablet to access said devices for scheduled maintenance absolutely is a thing. This is 3 times you've said scam now without providing any reasoning.
I don't really see what the value add on the Malik Monk NFT is. Autographed game worn custom shoes would draw auction bids without it. I'm unmoved by that as a demonstration of the utility of an NFT.
Some of you are getting mad about me having fun and earning a living. I feel like dblplay1212 being scolded for collecting shoes. Maybe let's just leave it at that. People love to collect shit. Stop being upset about what I'm choosing to spend or invest in. JFC.
That's ok if you don't see the value. None of my NFTs are for sale. I'm not trying to get you all to purchase anything. I'm sure you buy or invest in things that I don't understand too.
I’m not mad, I just think people should be more honest with why they’re so excited by crypto/NFT stuff.
Do you think I'm excited about NTFs to scam people? That sounds mad. It also sounds like you're a little bit ignorant on the topic but keep trying to prove your point you might get there eventually
I like making money easily, that's why I like it. I will say though there are a few NFT games I like. The art doesn't do it for me but I played NFT fantasy football this season and it was way more fun than a normal fantasy league. NFT horse racing was great fun for a while. Made a bunch of money, too
It's moments like this where I seek encouragement from the most inspirational college football program of all time to help block out the haters

I have to admit, I just now put it together that the "investments" in a comic book, book club, animated series, etc. are in the metaverse.
You just used Melania Trump as an example to prove your point. This is 100% a cash grab. Reese Witherspoon donated all the proceeds of her NFTs to fund programs for women to get involved in computer programming. You're just looking for examples to prove a point. And also sounding ignorant. Lol Melania... really? Great example.
You're continuing to sound childish and ignorant. The same players that wanted to throw shade in the last thread are the ones still triggered about trying to understand this. It's interesting seeing you all try to piece it together and try harder with each reply. I'm still not sure what you're asking or saying here.
There was nothing more to my post; I said precisely what I meant. I was admitting that I just now put it together that your previous reference to investments into a book club, animated series, comic book, etc. took place within the gutter cat gang metaverse. I am the first to admit that I have a very cursory knowledge of NFTs. For that reason, I haven't commented on them. I certainly didn't "throw shade."
Plz Mix can you make a call out thread for Tiger Tiger Woods Y'all so we can see who has the tastier frozen treats? We’ll send an auditing crew to both locations to view your financials and eat your treats. The winner will be the shop with the highest revenue, multiplied by a tastiness coefficient as determined by each judge. The winner takes ownership of the losing business. Ready set go.
This is not true. Every example I posted is a separate NFT project. It's hard to believe if you're being serious or not when every interaction I've had with you has been negative towards me so apologies for the assumption
https://www.jenkinsthevalet.com/ It started out with a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club utilizing his NFT and IP rights behind the NFT. It then became a book series, but its long-term goal is to be a web3 marketing company. I may at some point have the opportunity to utilize their platform to get royalties for utilizing my NFTs (maybe the cat in my pfp, for example) for various digital or physical products. Not just a book. It could be anything. I've already been able to sign a contract for this book to get royalties from another person's Bored Ape that's worth over $500k at today's floor prices. They did not have a Valet Ticket NFT and needed someone like me to partner with to get their character in the book and get royalties for it. The last estimate was looking like I would receive $800 in royalties just by utilizing an NFT I minted early on. It gets a bit deeper and more complicated here too. I also have the ability to create proposals and vote on new projects and ideas as an owner of the NFT. Think stakeholdership and governance. Edit: I'm also getting a free copy of this book as an owner of the NFT, but just like the IRL meetups, it's not the reason I purchased the NFT and am holding it long-term. I'm investing in a startup web3 company.
What do you mean exactly? Myself and the owner of the bored ape had to sign an agreement to give the IP rights/usage for the character in the book to Jenkins the Valet, if that's what you're asking. And yes, the big utility behind their NFT right now is they've done all the legwork and legal work to assist Bored Apes in marketing their characters. The actual issuance of the IP for these characters is based on the discretion of the individual projects, however.
My dad bought multiple factory sets of the Desert Storm trading cards as an investment. His blood coursing through my veins prevent me from criticizing what people choose to invest in.
IP is such a scam. Kept millions of poors from getting Covid vaccines. Abolishment of private property should be an end goal not a feature of “web3”
uh yeah I want an expensive car but I want the ass end of the engine to hang out over the rear axle, I don’t want it to have any features at all, and I want it to look the same as it did 50 years ago well sir the Volkswagen, I mean Porsche 911 is for you perfect, do you accept jpgs of a cartoon ape as payment
I have to say before I read this entire thread I just thought NFTs were just a funny little scam. after thoroughly considering all the posts in the thread and researching what this will mean for my HVAC system, I now know that it’s actually an even bigger scam than I ever thought possible
The other person calling this a scam for the exact reason just referred to a smart home system in the Home Buyers Thread that is moving to the blockchain though.
I don't think anyone is disputing the benefits of blockchain technology. They may be a little suspect that a picture of a pilled out cat will be a good way to spend $30k, but I wish you the best.
