Rewatching The Batman. Fuck me this film is a masterpiece. Leave Reeves alone and let him do his thing.
Pattinson the best Batman. I said what I said. I was always a Bale boy but he just had Nolan propping him up. Maybe it’s the same with Pattinson, but his Batman just hits harder. Apples to oranges I guess.
I like RPs Batman better, but Bales Bruce Wayne is closer to the source so far. Granted it’s one movie versus three, but this recluse and brooding Bruce doesn’t do it for me. Maybe his character will develop as they make more movies, but I do g like Pattinsons Bruce.
I always hated Bales Batman voice. It was just too dumb. Still amazing movies in spite of that though. Pattinson's Batman is definitely the best and their version of Gotham blows all the others away. Nolan kind of tried in Begins and then he just made Gotham look like Chicago.
The whole ending of the movie seemed to say that he must be more so I’m assuming in the next movie he will be more outgoing and the playboy most comics show.
I like that Bruce is really going to have an arc this time. He will definitely grow in the second film. That's more or less what the whole first film is about. He can do more as Bruce than he can as Batman.
One thing that Nolan was able to do, that almost all other comic book franchises cannot, is give his character a proper ending. There's a sense of resolution/completion in Dark Knight Rises that you will never get with a Marvel movie (though we came very close with the way Endgame handled Cap and Iron Man). Reeves has the potential to do that as well since he's almost certainly aiming for a trilogy. The DCU Batman can be open-ended, but I hope after Reeves is done, they'll wait a decade or so and then come back with another trilogy of Elseworld Batman stories told by some other auteur.
Leto is a great actor at times and I appreciate what he tried to bring to that film. But it just didn't hit the mark.
I’d like to see what Ayer’s vision was. He said the studio changed his film into a music video. Cut out most of the Joker story and changed the ending.
Cutting out most of the Joker sounds like a positive considering what I saw of Leto's take on the role. But it DC wants to waste money on it then go ahead I suppose.
I’ll never join X because I keep hitting the logo to get out of the message (among a million other reasons). It’s so dumb
Not DC, but rewatched Logan last night. I know it’s nothing like the comic but damn that’s a good movie.
Batman and Wolverine are my favorite 2 comic book characters from DC and Marvel so it’s nice to see them in legit good movies. As much as I want to see what Gunn does with DC I’m really excited with what Reeves is doing with his Batman universe. Nolan’s trilogy is great, but Reeves is really tapping into that dark DC tone that separates it from Marvel.
Agreed. Whatever happens with the rest of DC is cool but my is what Reeves is doing. The Batman is my favorite iteration of the character so far on film.
Always interesting to hear other takes on things. I hated The Batman, but seem to be in the vast minority with that opinion
didn’t feel like a Batman movie to me. Felt like someone wanted to make a movie like “seven” or something, but with a Batman skin on it. I like a lot of the actors in most things but did not enjoy their takes on the characters. I thought paul dano overacted like crazy, Zoe kravitz gave one of the worst monologues I’ve ever seen, and Robert Pattinson was just too emo for me. I did really like the penguin, and thought it was the best looking Gotham they’ve ever put on film, though. also I kind of think Matt reeves was listening to that nirvana song and was just like “I’m going to make an entire batman movie around this song from 1991 and play it multiple times”
I didn't 'hate' it - it was a decent first film - but I think it's massively overrated by some here. Just my opinion, though.
It's not even necessarily about this character. I definitely have a bit of super hero fatigue unless it looks like they are doing something new. This just looks like another super hero origin.
Black Adam killed my interest in them. Haven’t watched Guardians 3 and it’s free. I used to go Thursday night for openings, now the last one I went to the theater to see was Ant Man and it sucked too.
Guardians 3 was really good. Especially if you enjoyed the others. But that's more of a space adventure to me than a super hero film.
I’m sure they will be happy with any money. BB was originally intended to be an HBO Max movie. Think I saw it was projected $30 mil this weekend. Believe the budget was originally $80 mil and got bumped up to $120 mil after they decided to release it in theaters.
Ya most likely not or not much over after it’s all said and done. Who knows if word of mouth can give it legs.
Saw the trailer before Oppenheimer yesterday so it's getting a little play. It looks...fine...but not like anything special.
