Sure, Jan. You do realize that a “rendition” can be very different from the original, right? Based on your post, I’m guessing not. No need to respond to this and continue to clog the thread. I just wanted to point out once again how nothing you’ve said here makes sense. Anyway, MCH is still playing up that Dexter might not have died in New Blood, when showrunners have already said he definitively did. So, I’m assuming Resurrection will be Dexter playing the role of Harry for Harrison, which is meh. They could also just go back on what they said and have him survive the shooting. As lame as that would be, I think that would make for a better show than the Harry redux.
what? A rendition is an interpretation of something. That’s all it means. My point was simply that the changes they made to the original scared me. I never said that it was a big difference. What I said makes sense you just don’t agree with my opinion.
Anyway, for the non-idiots ITT, here’s an article that talks more about what MCH had to say at San Diego Comic Con. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/dexter-dead-michael-c-hall-resurrection-1236087604/
Gonna be hard to please Dexter fans bc it’s associated with the show. If this was a new property coming out independently, it could be promising. So if you look at it like that…
Lmao at the people they cast for the younger version of original characters. Angel looks like Angel on ozempic.
I can't get enough of the new show. I fucking hate the younger versions of the characters, I hate the shitty one liners on the inner monologue. I hate it so much but can't stop.
Is anyone actually giving this a chance? Episode 5 really made the show explode into what I wanted it to be. The back story of Dexter's Mom has added context. I'm assuming they will get into his brother's issues as well. Christian Slater has been solid.
No way that’s how the relationship between harry and Dexter’s mom went, but I don’t think you can show extorting strung out sex on paramount plus.
I am entertained by this show, but have so many questions. So Harry Morgan, the best detective at Miami PD: -negligent in the drowning of one of his children -Extorts his CI for sex, his mismanagement leads to her being dismembered by a chainsaw -Covering up evidence for the future Ice Truck Killer -Enabling his son to be a serial killer -Wholly unaware that his Captain- friend of 30 years- is killing and dismembering children
Well that was the premise of the original series. Not a stretch for a good cop to be personally flawed on some of the other points. I’m enjoying Original Sin. Lots of solid nostalgia tied into the characters and their behaviors.
What on earth. I guess with the way people consumer serial killer podcasts this is a clever spin off. I just rewatched the trinity season and forgot a lot of details. Pretty damn riveting.
It feels like they were buzzing along with writing the (stupid) harry and Laura story and someone went oh shit he was in uniform in Dexter’s flashbacks. Quick, how do we fix this?
I get that for sure. So much of the first series was Harry is a great cop, he has good moral code and is this guiding light and he is inspiring his kids to be cops and setting Dexter on the correct path. Now they are showing showing Harry look totally negligent and inept at work and in his personal life and I don't understand why. You can show flaws without him letting his child drown and fucking up multiple cases at work to the point he gets people dismembered and gets demoted at work.
James Remar’s version would make for incredibly boring TV. This isn’t great, but it’s at least a story of some sort.
Mostly liked it but turning Brian into a full blown serial killer this early and then just acting like he went into hiding was super dumb, in addition to useless Harry
Oh for sure. It's just you are putting so much effort in this dumb universe you would think they would do a little better job. You could have Harry maybe solve a case instead of fucking them up?
Just watched episode 10. Kinda wild to now believe Harry knew Dexter’s brother was a serial killer active in the area and never said a word to Dexter. Right.
they decided to make the universe. They could have had him discover moser right before he died and not be able to tell Dexter. This is just fucking stupid
I also don’t believe that Brian could survive for over a decade killing the way they have him killing. If he’s that kind of monster and stalker there’s no way he could keep it in his proverbial pants. It’s an absurd premise, even within the dexterverse. Why would he then wait so long to do ice truck for Dexter? It just doesn’t even remotely add up.
Yes, the difference episode 10 made for me and my opinion was significant. The holes exist. But stepping back this series was surprisingly enjoyable and watchable apart from these gripes. The guy playing Dexter nails his mannerisms, speech cadence, and more.
Haven’t read the last page. Starting episode 1 now. My hopes are not high but would love to be wrong.
